Oom, goeie raad?

Koop by Bright-ligts of magic lights

Add the Magiclights to your list of lights to compare.

GotThatInCarbon made an error in an earlier post though. Brighter-Lights does not sell Magiclights' date=' you can get them from me. Check out www.magiclight.co.za

I haven't shipped to Nigeria yet, but am willing to give it a try if you are interested.

I indeed have sold quite a couple Magicshines to those who requested, although it was not my recommendation.

To answer some of the other questions.

There's some new models coming soon, I have finally finished a serious thermodynamics study and have designed a new housing that's a very efficient heatsink, and good looking too!  Going to the CNC shop in the next few weeks.

The LED's I now use are Cree XP-G R5 in a sought after soft white colour - the latest ranking and currently the most efficient LED available. (even brighter than Lupine's latest, they use the R4)

The R5 ranking puts out almost 500 Lumens per LED at 1.5A - but an incredible 140 lumens at 1 Watt, in the 7 LED light, that gives you almost 1000 lumens at only 7 Watt's!

The P7 Seoul in the Magicshine gives 70 lumens per Watt... was great in 2007 but not anymore...

really consider building your own' date=' so that you can fix them if they break.  Nothing more annoying than having a fancy light that is broken.[/quote']

Been there, done that, won't do it again... Yes, it's fun to build, but if it breaks you have to rebuild anyway.  What can break in a LED setup anyway?  Easiest is getting proper, rugged light with backup and spare parts when required.

I bought the Hope Vision 4 lights and will never go back to DIY.

And you call yourself an engineer !?? Smile

I guess if I was earning in Euros like you, parting with the cash would have been easier.

On the other hand, I have built so many DIY lights over the years (started in 1997, first LED light in 2008), so don't think I will ever stop playing with the stuff.
