carbon911 Posted May 31, 2010 Share I have done it 2 years ago, came 8th, very hard climb in the beginning, wil hurt your legs if you didnt warm up, then there is a very tricky decent. make sure you have decent bottel cages on, i lost both my bottels going down it. then its only a few uuuuuuuuuups and doowns, I got riden off on the down hill... but overall one off the best races to do, also try to do the sewe weeks poort, also a awsome race
Izak Posted June 1, 2010 Share what defines a good time Izak? have you looked at last years times to judge where you will finish? A good time (above average for someone fitting my criteria).Obviously I'm not gonna ride a 3:08 as Kev did last year, but an above average time. Ratty Posted June 1, 2010 Share I'm doing the long route at Knysna in a months time. Based on that, I will judge my goal for Karoo to Coast. I do know however that it takes guys like Kev Evans +- 21 minutes longer to do Karoo to Coast than Knysna even though it is 20km's + extra. This means although there are tough climbs, overall it is an easier route than Knysna. I'm also just aiming to finish so will take both these races at a nice easy pace. The longest I've been on a mtb before is 60km's so its going to be a nice test of my endurance (note, not fitness as I know my fitness is lacking). I'm really excited for both Knysna and Karoo 2 Coast !!!
eitan Posted June 22, 2010 Share The Knysna long race is actually only 74.5km, so definately tougher than the K2C. the average rider will probably take 30 to 40 minutes longer on the K2C.
