It is not a revolution, but evolution....

some species stay behind, others move on and improve

Totally non-biased opinion of course. I say "Ride it and See" - if you don't like it don't change.

In terms of racing, I was watching Burry vs Kevin the other day - came to a stream - Burry went straight through, Kevin got cought on a rock and had to stop.....

I 2008 I started riding a 29er and I was laughed at along the lines "oh look it a penny farthing" and now 2010 I have eight riding mates on 29er bikes.

Earlier there were many who said it wont work for varoius reasons ............. works fine for those who ride them and take the small effort to set up correctly, much like setting up any bike you ride.

Yes they are great a 29er dual is the most fun you can have on a bike. I have hard tails and duels and its problem deciding what to ride 'cause they all veeeerrrrryyyyy nice

Guys dont stare yourself blind to the fact that burry; conrad; sauser; ect all of a sudden rides a 29 er. These guys are payed by their brand and their job is to create the market. Just because they ride one now does not mean they do it because they prefer it above the 26 er. If im not mistaken gary fisher brought out a 29 er yonks ago and it did not take off. This is take 2. Personally i have never ridden one and cant say that i want to. Maybe when im 50 or so and need a softer ride on the flat farm roads

tested it, and there was resulting no burning desire that I had to have one...

I wonder what the next fad will be...

The next fad will be the 27.5er. It's already happening

Interesting. I heard Specialized were holding out on the whole 29er thing until Conrad nagged them so much to make him one they gave in.

Also, GFischer bike are cool and all, but their early 29ers handled like dogs. Maybe that's why they never took off.

And this is not take 2. No offence intended, but this is just you being out the loop. The rest of us have been following the steady rise for years.

And there were no other variables (line, technical ability blah blah blah) so it must have been the wheels

I for one have never been a sheep.

The pro's do what the pro's do, I do what suits me.

To me the 29'er's are neither an evolution of the 26 inch bikes and they certainly won't revolutionize either.

They are just different, they create more choices, they add to the saying "different strokes for different folks."

They won't be for everyone.

Saying that they are crap (some people do this) without having ridden one is also unfair, how is that old saying "don't knock it till you've tried it"

They are also not as cushy as you might think, so they could work for all ages.

If you are looking for a pre- 50 year old ride then this will certainly suit your hardcore way of thinking:

When you become as old and as slow as me, then this might suit you as well:
