The Merida is a 100mm travel XC race bike.

The Scott is a 120mm travel trail/XC bike that can be raced.

Tread magazine did a test on them a while ago.

What sort of riding do you do?

If possible, test ride them and see how the geometry suits you.

I had a Merida Ninty Six 3000

I must have had a dud Magura Fork, worst fork I have ever had.

Appart from that bike was great, at the time I could not find anything as well spec'd in the same price range.

Merida; but to just add onto this, I don't have any facts or tests to back up my choice for this. I have a Merida and I think it rocks. I am sure the 96 will as well.

The Scott has some good equipment on.

Are you referring to the 96 3000-D?
