Locking of Pedestrian Gates at Delta Park

This might cause problems for some:

 

I just recieved an email from Blairgowrie Residents Against Crime.The pedestrian gates at all entrances to Delta Park will be locked at 20h00 and re opened at 05h00 by ADT in an attempt to cut crime in the area.This is effective 16 August 2010.

What about the Victory park side of the park. There is no gate or even a fence.

I expect it will be harder for folk to get mugged in the park at night now, if they can't get in.

Who's the "they" you are talking about? You are right, there is no chance getting mugged in the park if you are sitting at home.

Hi Mamps, the "they" would be both the mugger and the muggee.

 

Ackshally crime inside the park will go down but crime just outside the locked gates may go up. ("Unsuspecting-would-be park-user attacked whilst rattling chains - Report claims).

 

& what would have been a house burglary with you out on your bike in the park, now becomes an aggravated robbery as they get you in your lounge.

 

Ahh well every silver lining has a cloud.

Who goes there after 20:00 anyway? I think the 05:00 opening may have a bigger impact on some riders though.

It would take a big scale. Maybe a crane or two but it is possibly to make it scaleable

the gate at the school side has been locked permanently for a while - to cyclists, at least. pedestrians still can get through, but the gate can only open wide enough to fit a pedestrian, bike won't go through ... that used to be part of my daily commute ... ahhh well just hae to enter at the bottom side, then
