Hi Guys,

I have to decide between these two products.

I am a MTB'er and do a lot of exploring off the track, which would be the best.

Thanx

You will get all the functionality of the Polar in the Garmin plus you get GPS and the ability to upload maps, courses, etc. Bit of a no-brainer for MTB. The price difference is no longer that great.

Only down side of the Garmin is that the battery needs recharging after about 15 hours of use and I sometimes forget...

Garmin Edge 705

The training centre software with map overlay that is included is amazing for scouting routes and analyzing all the technical data both during the ride but especially after when you get home on your PC.

I'm a believer...

I have been very happy with my Garmin but don't think I will buy again or recommend it to anyone else.If something goes wrong with the unit internally, you have to bin it, as the agent will not open it up.

Apparently it has been hermetically sealed and can therefore not be opened - so if the battery dies it means a new unit!!!
