Hey there

I have a specialised tarmac pro 54cm and I am thinking pf upgrading to a different frame. The frame is still fairly new and I am not sure what to ask if I was to sell it, I have asked around and a few people said somewhere in the range of 13-14k considering it is still quite new. I purchased the frame for just over 19k.

Any recommendations will be appreciated

Thanks

I have the same frame and absolutely love it..why do you want to sell? Don't like the ride?

By the way I paid just over R18K new 3 months ago.

Thanks for the advice. I will think about a price. the reason for upgrading is purely weight, I am a bit of a freek when it comes down to weight. anyway i think i will put up a post and see what offers i get, hopefully something comes through.

What is the weight on such a frame? Can't be more then 1100g surely? You should be riding Red if you worried about weight. What's the weight on your whole bike as in the pic?

for something world famous for cracking..you'll be lucky if you get 3k for it

World Famous for cracking? Absolute rubbish. There was a recall on the 2006 (or was it 2007) Roubaix as they only used 1 rivet on the brake cable stops. On one or two machines, the cable stop brke off causing braking problems. Other than that, Specialized remains one of the best brands out there.

Tarmac Sl the blue and black one..

the first one developed a crack at the bottom of the head tube..

replaced by Olympic Cycles

The second one BB shell dislodged itself from the frame..

replaced by Olympic cycles

the third one cracked at the bottom of the BB

Replaced by Olympic cycles...

By now i have given up swearing cause i ran our of swear words i made up...

fourth one lasted 52 days of which 9 were ride days and 1 a race day, cracked in the BB..

Now The Agents stepped in came to my house and replaced it with a Sl2 Red and Black on.

Why the F does my gears not change properly.

I get told by the agent im not an Authorized bike builder..."Aw wot a Klap in my face"....benefit of the doubt given...

off we go to a new Athorised Spez dealer, pay 350 to get the bike built...guess wot ....thats right the gears....

We look, and look and look...and find the right rear lug and hanger at a very stupid angle.

so i get the guy that told me im not an Authorized builder to come and take a look.. HE COMMENTED. I TOOK A CROW BAR AND FLATTENED THE SPEZ.

15 min later my money was transferred into my account. plus extra.

I now own a very beautiful Slc sl

its just so sad to think that people pay so much money to ride a crap brand.

I have had 4 Tarmac's:

Tarmac Comp - Solid, as was my brothers.

Tarmac Pro SL - Paint cracked at BB, was replaced no questions asked.

Tarmac SL3 - Unbelievably solid, never a hassle at all.

Tarmac SL3 - still riding it without any issues.

These are good bikes, perhaps it's just you they don't like? :P

I'm now waiting for the 2011 SL3 Pro to arrive and that will make it's way into the garage :)

Agree with Tarmac SL3. My SL2 is beautiful and crack free.

Wrt selling price of the Sl, I would hazard a guess around the R8k/R9k mark, since the SL2's sell for around R10k to R12k.

I think the weight is about 1200g for the frame only, I have done some research and the red group won't make that much of a difference considering that it is only shifters and derailleurs i would be replacing. the total weight of the bike is 6.77kg though, which is very light i know, but an isp frame such as the giant or da rosa etc would bring it down to 6.4kg straight...
