If he is so intelligent, why troll?

Because it takes a bit of intellect to be able to troll AND spark some reaction.

Many troll and many just get ignored, take Nathaniel, call him a freak call him whatever, he is clever, he has a fan base because he uses his brains to market his quirkiness effectively.

Ivo is a friend of mine, very intelligent writer. He is entitled to his opinion and sadly, the piss poor behaviour of cyclists in general gives him plenty of ammo. Death threats for someone voicing an opinion using logic and observation? Come people.

His offensive, grumpy-old-man piece on the 94.7 ended with the sentence: "The next cyclist I see dies." In the current climate of carnage on our roads, cyclists cannot be blamed for taking that as a death threat. There was little irony in his writing, it was a weak, vitriolic piece I would say bordered on hate speech, not just "opinion".

As I said, he is clever and manages to get a response, all the time it seems.

Why even take him serious or even feel threatened by him ?

"The next cyclist I see dies."

In all probability this will never happen, he has a bek, that's that, I doubt he will go out to kill "the next cyclist"

As with all bully's at school and attention seekers around the world, just ignore them and eventually they will go away.

I quite like the surname, now I know who Grens Vegter's long lost son is.

The thing is, he is a journalist with a platform and an audience. He's not just a bully at school. Thousands of people read his stuff (I would imagine, if he actually makes a living from his writing). He is published in mainstream media, not just fringe online forums and so he has influence. He has a larger responsibility than you or me.

Yeah, this is kinda like how everyone got het up about Seth. Read it, don't read it, move on.

Yip, an attention seeker who got the publicity he actually doesn't deserve.

It's kinda like that Sindi thing in Idols, she is so revolting with an absolute lack of talent that she has actually become a household name.

This is true bud, I am not disputing that, but he will never change, how is that stunning Afrikaans saying "onkruid vergaan nie"

Shame I am happy to see he at least got friend !

Instead of antagonizing the guy, we should see if we can maybe get him to put in a good word for cyclists. Perhaps see if he can influence the publics opinion in a positive light?

Please do yourself a favour and go and find the stuff he had to say about 2 years ago about cyclists etc . I don't want this bloke close to me , he makes me sick .

well perhaps his attitude can be changed. lets get him to do the 94.7. experience cycling first hand.
