Droop excessively?excuse the ignorance.

Sorry, if my pseudo-scientific-mumbo jumbo sounded plausible, please accept my sincere apologies. It is 100% sucked from my thumb and I though the "banana droop" statement would be the clincher, but apparently it is not. Maybe it is the ultimate proof that the wackiest of theories can be claimed to be true if you throw a couple of fancy words together (a bit like Powerbalance thingies).

Bananas are fine. They don't contain too much potassium. Don't worry. It's all going to be OK.

(PS I will work hard at making my sarcasm way more obvious)

Depends on experience. Does your banana droop excessively?

This is becoming a really informative string ,so I have this to add . It seems some individuals overdo it on peanut butter and some it seems ....on banana's...

if you were to do do both ........?

The only symptoms I develop if I’ve been going at the bananas is a need to groom other people’s heads, a propensity to hunch (so I just spend more time in the drops) and a need to scream in a frenetic high-pitched caterwaul for no apparent reason which I find quite satisfying.

Anyone noticed patches of back hair?

on a more serious note: nutritionally they've got pretty much everything you need, they store neatly in a cycling jersey pocket and they come in a biodegradable wrapper. banana's are the evolutionary pinnacle of energy supplement design.

I once had a banana and climbed a big hill and nearly suffered the same fate. Since then i limit myself to no more than eight bananas per ride, avoid the big hills, and my heart feels great. I would think that anything over 20 bananas per ride would be considered excessive. However I've hear of people who have a much higher tolerance who can take two dozen on board with no side-effects. I think it all depends on your present level of fitness.

i almost had a heart attack laughing at this

A potassium overdose will cause palpitations; stomach cramps; diarrhoea; muscle spasms; slow, weak pulse; irritability; anxiety; tiredness; heart failure.

Although there is said to be no recommendation as to how much potassium to take in the diet, 2,000 – 3,000 mg a day is thought to be adequate. Also the Institute of Medicine 2004 guidelines gave a specified RDA of 4,000mg a day.

Potassium overdose, known as hyperkalemia, is

dangerous. You can develop this through kidney problems, severe

infection, or potassium sparing diuretics.

Those with kidney

disease need to be extra careful not to take too much potassium because

the kidneys control potassium excretion. A sick kidney can contribute to

too much concentrated potassium in the blood stream, and could lead to

fatal cardiac arrhythmia.

Too much intake of concentrated

potassium chloride can short circuit muscles and nerves causing them to

malfunction. This is why one of the symptoms of a potassium overdose are

palpitations or irregular heart beat.

To illustrate the dangers

of too much potassium, Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the infamous Dr. Death, used

concentrated potassium chloride to neutralise the electrical conduction

of the heart and stop it beating in dying patients who he assisted in

accomplishing euthanasia. He chose this method because it was effective

and fast acting.

It is also used as the last of the lethal

injections in the execution of criminals because it stops the heart in

just a few minutes.

There is NO WAY you can take enough bananas to become hyperkalemic. All BS I SAY.
