Where was my bike made? In a factory with the same equipment exactly like they made yours. Which country was it made, who the hell cares.

It's funny, even though the "hand-made" label gives apparent bragging rights, the finishing of my previous bike (a Giant) was much more refined in terms of welds, paint and decals. There's something about the raw nature of ball-burnished unsanded welding that I dig though

My point is that there are a lot of "made in Italy" and "made in Spain" that where really made in Asia. Nothing wrong with bikes made in Asia but I do think it is wrong to say they were made in Europe when they were not.

Some of mine were made in the Far East, Gauteng, in the days when they still did that. Still others in the Republic of Bapetikosweti at Babelegi. Surely that makes me cool beyond belief?

I remember reading about Silverback a while ago, think it is a SA company but the bikes are made in Asia, was in a ride or bicycling magazine i think

always been designed in SA and made in the east. (exactly the same scenario as Raleigh, but their marketing was 1000% better)

 

however they have 'moved' to germany now. seems to be working.
