Hi Guys

Building my first road bike.... splashing out on a carbon frame so my price range for a groupset is R4-6k...

Which groupset is better, SRAM Rival or Shimano 105?

I have read some blogs suggesting that the SRAM is better and 400g lighter.

Wouldn't mind some input from hubbers in the know.

Thanks

They both work well. I ride Shimano and have ridden SRAM in the past. I would think of the future upgrades you may want to make and check on compatibility if you want to change single parts at a time.

Buy the Rival groupo, swop out the cassette and chain immediately, for the Force stuff.

Will cost about R400. but its a helava lot lighter...

Leave the fishing stuff to the fishermen

Will cost abit more than R400 to change rhe casstte(R750) and chain(R700)

Super record, pffffftttttt pay so much for crap ergonomics. No thanks

Agreed on that one. My record hurt my thumbs so much! Ow! They are sexy looking though.

Bloody good looking. But looks only help so much. Had sora on my first bike and it had thumb buttons for down shifts. Thats prob why I won't buy campy.

Exactly what I said to my LBS last week, was looking at Super Record and said I would never buy it because it was like the Sora on my first bike

Good looks only get you so far. Imagine you have a supermodel for a wife, cooks like a chef, brilliant mom, pornstar lover and takes care of your every need, but every night she stabs you in the legs while sleeping. It won't last long.Same with campy
