got a flat tire,70km from home,airbomb failed

thought i could keep busy while waiting for my dad.

why did the bomb push the tire over the rim? its a 8bar bomb for a 8bar tire. could it be that it inflated to fast? the tube was inserted properly with no twists and the tire was fitted proper as well.

They do occasionaly fail but never heard of one pushing it off the rim, only thing i can think of is that a section of the tube was trapped between tyre and rim thus blowing it off but as you mention you check for that.

 

I always carry 2 bombs and a pump on training rides.

Roads can NEVER be clean. Most road punctures are caused by small pieces of steel from the steel belts of car and truck tyres as well a small shards of glass from beer bottles thrown out of cars. Getting cuaght out unprepared 70km from home in the conditions we live in is plain irresponsible.

 

...... o ja and black painted drawing pins thrown on the road by brainless dead!!!!!!!!!
