It has become boring to see this nonsense on the hub every day, report stuff that is dangerous...not trivial

Rather go and take a picture of a taxi driving on the yellow lane, overtaking on a blind rise etc....and then send it to the traffic department. You will not achieve anything...but because this is club you want to "report"

and all this WHILE doing something wrong yourself...

Boring topic by now.

Do you want a pic of my every time I skip a red light...? I though so....you will get bored also....

Its their actions that tend to rile non-cycling road users (and other law abiding riders) and then we all suffer for their actions.

Given that this is a cycling website not a taxi/police website I reckon the pics are valid. If it makes ONE person think twice about jumping a red light then it's a worth while thread. The fact that it's Cyclelab 9 times out of 10 doesn't make it persecution...

Justifying your own dodgy activities because others perform even worse activities makes you just like them.

Why do you think us cyclists are the target of so much hate? I'm guessing it's because hot shot racers like yoou jump a lot of red lights...

I skip red lights sometimes...as some robots u can wait like 10min until a car arrives....maybe they did look for traffic etc. I bet you now, no one will wait in the early morning at a robot with no cross traffic till it goes green...otherwise if its such a main concern...climb of your bike, walk over the crossing and get on again...problem solved

As a cyclist on my way back from the Sandton clinic I found it appropriate to post these pics after having to drop off family members of another cyclist knocked by a vehicle in the middle lane on Witkoppen street at Monte around 05H15.(don't know the cyclist just done him a favour by collecting his family(Paulshof) and taking them to the hospital)

I have no gripe with which club or person it is riding in such manner BUT stop assuming it is the TAXI or other person's fault when one close to you is involved. We are quick to point fingers and judge others by assumption YET we have guilty parties amongst ourselves. Coenie I hope your family never has to see you in the condition said cyclist was yesterday.

Is this code for "I know I'm wrong so I'm going to try and be obtuse enough to sound intriguing"?

Nope, I mean...we are all wrong and posting the pics has become boring

Ironically I agree with you.

If it's crazy early in the morning and no one is around I'm all for jumping red lights.

BUT - the quickest way to make the general public to hate us is for a group of 20 riders to go rolling through a red light with a bunch of cars waiting at said red light. If thats the case we might as well all wear "please kill me - I'm a cyclist" signs on our backs...

It's akin to taxis going whipping along the emergency lane then pushing in ahead of you - the stuff that creates road rage.

I have a slightly different perspective - the fact that it happens so often that it has become boring is a sad reflection on us cyclists as a whole.

I guess it matches the general lack of respect for the law, each other and life in general in South Africa.

Now I'm really starting to sounds like my parents but I have never seen as much poor driving in SA as I have in the last 6 months. I'm not sure if it's stress in general, the crazy roadworks or government's unofficial policy of showing us that laws are not that important but holy bejesus it's crazy on the roads at the moment.

/rant over.

I think we all need to chil a bit. We can not change the whole world and stepping on our fellow cyclist toes is not excatly a nice thing to do either

On Saturday morning, at around 8am I was driving along the road by Avianto. A huge bunch of cyclist came out from under the bridge and proceeded up that road taking over the entire lane and even crossing over the line into the lame of on coming traffic. Being only a single lane road, i find this beyond a joke. They were all in yellow, no idea where from, i didnt look.

I don't see it as stepping on our fellow cyclists toes - I see it more as raising awareness of cycling styles that should be discouraged.

I for one am tired of having my friends/colleagues/aquaintances saying that cyclists are lawless w@nkers that should be banned from riding on the roads.
