You have probably looked at this but could it not be the extra bit of cable form your front derailleur hitting your crack arm

"crack arm"...... eina!!!!!!!

Ok, here's an update:-

I have done the following:-

-cleaned the chain (its about 300km old)

-regreased headset

-removed all bolts on the stem and regreased them and torqued them to correct specs

-removed pedals and greased threads (that tighten into the crank arms)

went for a ride on Saturday morning and all that's left of the constant clicking is a click when I "dance on the pedals"- left pedal down, right pedal up. So I do the following:-

-removed spindels (?) of pedals- regreased them

-removed BB cups-discovered left bearing a bit rough- replaced that- regreased

-removed seatpost, cleaned that and retorqued and greased all bolts of the seatclamp

went for a ride Sunday, no change, so I do the following:-

-sprayed all the nipples on the rear wheel with silicon spray

-tightened sqewer on rear wheel

-spray silicon on front and rear derailer working areas

I am hoping that this evening there would be no clicking sound otherwise I just do not know what it can be, unless the frame has a crack somewhere- inspected it but can't see anything!!

So what's left?

I had the same clicking sound on when I peddled. I checked out everything, lubed everything that should be lubed, lubed things that probably shouldn't be and it kept on clicking. This went on for about a week, until I realised that it was from the cords of the windbreaker I was wearing clanging against the frame.

i had a clicking on my mtb that i thought was pedal, then i rode up breedts neck and it got worse... then coming down breedts neck it got a LOT worse after i went over the first bumpy technical bit... BB was shot. replaced BB and all sorted.

I am thinking of also changing the right BB cup and bearing

So what's left?

Try a touch of lube between your front fork dropouts and the quick release/hub axel contact points. The opposing tension created between you cranking on your bars up a hill and the giroscopic effect of the front wheel, combined with frequent washing with front wheel removed, can cause clicking source which is difficult to pin down. No amount of tightening the qr will resolve this if contact points are "dry". A drop of lube between thumb and forefinger, rub onto each side of each dropout, insert wheel and no more clicking.

this makes sence to me, will check if this works, thanks

I have had this type of clicking for about a year now.

As soon as any pressure is on the pedals there it goes and creaks!

I finally gave up trying to find the source and decided that I will know what it was when it eventually breaks.

Hopefully it is not the frame or fork......

But keep this thread rolling. Maybe oneday I will feel like wasting my time looking for it again.
