Hmm, that's weird...when i got back on my bike, I saw you guys cresting a hill in the distance, and I raced to the top of that hill but then couldn't see anybody...so i just kept riding, wanted to stay in my base zone, didnt feel like ripping myself to shredds trying to catch something i cant even see.

I didnt see you guys waiting anywhere??? I actually missed the whole vissershok effort. I just followed road signs back to durbanville, I couldnt remember where to turn off to v-hok, and didnt wanna get lost ;D

Anyway no hard feelings, I think i learned enuf about u guys today to know that you wouldnt have shelled me on purpose, was actually still a very enjoyable ride.

I see you guys are doing a training session in my back yard on thurs, Airbender. Think i'll join u guys again. And then u can make it up to me :D, gifts will be graciously accepted :P

Slipstream Sean,

Lekka to meet you, man!

Glad to hear you're okay.

We turned R after the silos.

It seems you went straight on to D ville.

I stopped. waited for a minute as the rest of the bunch cruised on at slower speed.

Then I cruised up the hill trying to keep the bunch together.

At the next hill, I called them to stop.

We waited for a few minutes.

It seems like a route change from your side. Unintended.

Looking forward to meeting you in the South for the recce of Cape Cobra on Thu!

WOW, the guys out there were machines , Lungs were screaming at me going out of Durbanville up the first rollers. I was definately not going to be able to maintain the pace we were going at, so after a quick chat to BigJ, decided the shorter route was going to be the better option for us

Ended up doing the Durbanville High Short route plus some Km's, at a nice little pace. Going to have to get a LOT stronger to ride with the BIG boys

My stats looked like this when I was done :

53.74km

01:58:53

26.27 Ave

152 Ave Heart Rate

185 Max Heart Rate (Trying to keep up going up the 1st rollers)

425m Climbing (13.63km)

Next time, I WILL be stronger.

BigJ, see you next week for another ride, was great riding with you.

Great to meet all the HUBBERS out there, what a great bunch of guys

Good to meet you, Scultura Rider.

Next time, ask the bunch to go slower so we can negotiate all the time.

It is always tricky if there are varying fitness levels in one bunch. :)

Perhaps I have myself to blame for not knowing the route then, but I thought we wud all be together so didn't really take much interest in memorizing the route. I definitely just took the same road home to durbs, if you guys turned off, then i definitely missed you guys.

I'm keen for the cobra ride...and yes, I know that route all too well :-)

Cool - I will not need to arrive with my map then. :w00t:

Should you evva wanna recce the final segment of the route, then let me know, man. I will show you.

It is the most interrogating element of the 99er.

Yeah I remember, I did the 99er at the beginning of this year. But that's just a case of following either directions from marshalls or the wheel in front of you. Anyway, had a c@ck 99er this year...next year will be better.

I dont think i need to do visserhok. To simulate the two final climbs I'll just practise hitting myself on the head with a baseball bat and then submersing it underwater...that should prepare my body for it :D

Nah, it was all good. You guys are quite a bit stronger than myself and Big J, and the two of us did not want to hold you guys up, believe it or not, sopmeguys cant keep up with me, so I know the feeling of having to wait, its pretty frustrating . It was really awesome to put faces to names though, now when I bump into you guys at the PPA events, I will know who I am chatting to :P. I think it was the initial speed at going out that got myself and big J worried. Looking at your stats as well over the full distance, I think we would have been able to maintain, but we were rolling out a bit quick for us in the beginning. No worries though, I got in a nice little 2 hours yesterday and went out and did another 3 hours this morning in the same area, got to do 83km this morning, so over the weekend, I got in my 5 hours of training and that is what I was aiming for . I just gotta take the baby steps, make sure I spend some SERIOUS time in the saddle over the next 3 and a half months and I am confident I will get my 3:35 Argus

Great ride everyone! Thanks for the organising Airbender and it was nice to meet you all

Tankman took it so leisurly he had time to take photos and write poetry while we were sweating it out.

Sorry that we lost you Sean... won't happen again.

And I'll tell Dewa... I mean that other dude that went over the white line to keep left.

Scultura & Big J - next time you will be fitter and faster you then you'll do the pacing out of Durbanville!

Almost can't think that the first funride is in 3 weeks!

So who won the hill sprints?

Fittingly, the dude wearing the yellow leaders jersey, Andydude! See the photos on the previous page.

Tankman, lyk of julle baie pret gehad het.

Gaan jy die Cobra roete doen Donderdag?

Dit was baie lekker  Het gister in Mosselbaai aangekom so ek sien julle weer in die nuwe jaar!

That was all part of the plan... I waited for the friendlier side of vissershok before putting in that attack (I am gravitationally challenged on one side and gravitationally advantaged on the other :D) you still kicked my butt going up Odendal! Well done K.O.M
