Im not good enough to ride these pro events - yet!!!

Don't worry, I see they catered especially for you!

Important note: the distances for the Category 2 Race will be shorter than the Category 1 Race - particularly on stage 2 and 3. (Assume each of those days only to be around 120km in length for Cat 2.)

So who exactly will be racing in Cat 1 and Cat 2? I know the professionals will be doing Cat 1, but would that include the Elites as we know them in the WC league? Which would make Cat 2 only for 30 year olds + (maybe also include a few Elites)?

Might be nice to get the tour feel for amateurs where we won't normally get the chance to participate in our our age bracket. So who's thinking of a yes for Cat 2?

Ja getting your head around these new Categories is a mission.

But I think Cat 1, will be for Elite/SV teams (no individual riders)

Cat 2, Ladies, Vets and Individuals.

As SV's we qualify for Cat 1 (in a team) and Cat 2, so pick your battle

I'm keen for Cat 1 but I think I am in need of a team at this point.

Hey Luke and Andydue,

I`m considering CAT 2 , think Daneel will be joining me as well as one or two team mates from Cape Storm. . . .honestly think CAT 1 is way out of my reach with all the pro and international teams. . .

So guys more information posted on the website with stage details, etc.

I was thinking of maybe riding in Cat 2, but it seems that the guys from my Brothers Sport team, elites and subvets, wants to do the Cat 1 group. It's going to be very tough racing with pros! But tougher makes you stronger right?

I must still sort out leave - but have anyone given more thought to if you are riding, and if yes, which category? Any Subvets looking at this...

I handed in the leave form & committed the entry for the Tour in Cat2

Based on the preliminary feedback Cat2 will still be very tough - quite a few strong teams & riders. We will be going hard, but the main aim is to enjoy the cycling and not have any pressure in terms of results.

So who else will be tackling all the best climbs in the Western Cape come next week?

What feedback have you had on Cat2?? Please share? The website only says Cat2 is shorter than Cat1?

No routes, no info on Cat2?

Good luck Tarmac - Cat 1 is going to be TUFFF!

Our elites are considering entering a small team for Cat 1 - will probably confirm this week.

But the Subvets have decided to take the easier options. We plan to have a few beers in between stages as well. :)

Routes are effectively the same - except for one day (think its day 3) when we go over Franshoek pass.

Cat 1 then starts in Paarl; while Cat 2 starts in Franshoek to make it about 30 km shorter. But the average stage for cat 2 is still about 140 km and we are doing all the the same climbs

Well thats the information I have.

Are you joining us Tankman? I know you love the climbing.

 can we do individual stages? (there is an idea!! How about allowing Cat2 riders to do individual stages for like R250 per stage. Since Cat to is for individuals and taking a whole week off work is a bit much)

which stages does not have any climbs, then I'll see you there!
