Reg Lizard Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) Ok, I am pondering on whether buying (for the fraction of the cost (+-4%) of the new price)a top end frame that has a small crack, but can be repaired. What would you do? Edited December 22, 2010 by Reg Lizard
I-FELT-the-FORCE Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 What Frame? Where is the crack? Is it on a serious weight bearing part? I might, all dependent
The_Break Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) What was the reason for the initial crack?Who can offer to do the repair for you?Do they offer a guarantee? Edited December 22, 2010 by The_Break
Reg Lizard Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 R1,5k = -+4%Â Don't know yet where the crack is, must still check out the frame.

MTBer wannabee Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 A repair to a carbon frame is quite technical especially if it is a top end bike. A lot of design has gone into choosing the correct fibre orientation and resin systems used (shock absorbtion, etc). It is not as simple as just throwing a few layers of carbon twill to the problem. Definately get an expert to check it out or it will just break again.Thats my 2c worth
intern Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Cracks don't get better, they get worse. I wouldn't, face planting takes all the fun out of it.
