flymango Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 So CaptainDura and myself have a difference of opinion. What do you Hubbers say?
dirtrider Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 IMHO you need the suspension to be soft thus keeping the rear wheel on the ground .
rouxtjie Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Open, actually couldn't be bothered with propedal, it's nice to know you can make the bike stiffer but I find when I am riding it almost never crosses my mind
Bike Mob Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Stiff...rather open the fork. there is still enough compliance with pro pedal on and you dont lose too much energy to bob
Regard Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) Mine is always open: on climbs, single track, decends. I only put it in pro-pedal if it is REALY flat district roads(stage races) or one loooooooooooonnnngggg jeep track climb like the Mpumalanga/Sabie/Baberton climbs. DMD 1 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Open, actually couldn't be bothered with propedal, it's nice to know you can make the bike stiffer but I find when I am riding it almost never crosses my mind Thats because you ride a weskus morewood.
rouxtjie Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Thats because you ride a weskus morewood.hehehhe yip, like dirtrider said, I find that I climb better with it "soft" cause every pedal stroke = energy on the ground. With my old hardtail I would lose energy due to backwheel being in the air for a fraction whilst I was putting power down.
Regard Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) Thats because you ride a weskus morewood.  It seems like a bit of a patern that is forming here........ Everybody with Morewoods seem to ride their shox "open"??? (That is me, Rouxtjie, DMD 1) Edited December 23, 2010 by Regard
dirtrider Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 But it is all because of the superior single pivot design of my Morewood . Pedal Bob never rides on my bike , just me .
SwissVan Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 RP23 - Almost always in the Pro pedal position (if I can remember which position it is cause the bladdy thing is not marked pro / open)TBH I dont find that there is much difference between the 2, pro pedal feels lke it has slightly less "bob" on smooth surfaces, but once it gets bumpy then it seems to behave the same as in the open position. Just my butt feeling...
SwissVan Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 But it is all because of the superior single pivot design of my Morewood . Pedal Bob never rides on my bike , just me . Hmmmmmm... my Zula definetly has a Bob function even in Pro pedal, I've seen it when riding uphill on smooth roads.
Regard Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) Ok, so now it makes for Morewoods: me, Dirt-rider, Rouxtjie, DMD 1, SwissVan and counting..... Edited December 23, 2010 by Regard
CaptainDura Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 So CaptainDura and myself have a difference of opinion. What do you Hubbers say?  Yip i ride mine open and feel more connected to the climb with less jumping around over the small boulders and obstacles as the shock smoothes out the ride. on a long climb after a hard day in the saddle it really makes the difficult climbs easier.
SwissVan Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Ok, so now it makes for Morewoods: me, Dirt-rider, Rouxtjie, DMD 1, SwissVan and counting.....  I see the new 2011 Zula has a RP2 compared to the 2010 with RP23, offhand does anyone know: 1. Is the RP2 any better than the RP23, why the change?2. Will the 2011 RP2 fit on a 2010 Zula?
dirtrider Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 All about the eye to eye lenght of the shock . Except for a few more settings on the 23 no real diffence . Got 2 on the Raleigh and feels the same (to me)
rouxtjie Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Well on their new catalogue, it looks like a rs monarch 3.3. But ja they advertise it as rp2. I heard a rumor that some people wanted full lockout on their zulas which the rp23 doesn't really do. Could also be a cost thing, just speculating here. All I know is I love the active suspension of the rp23, and dont bother with propedal....ever. +1 on the single pivot design being efficient. It also takes some tweaking to get exactly right / in the sweet spot but once there, you never look back.
