Hallo, I did road cycling for about 8 years, I did stop now for 2 years and did most of the races with the elites and A bunches, so I want to start again

 

I dont know what must I buy, a road bike or mountain bike, I saw the new Bicycling mag, I have no idea what they are talking about in their, they talk about Hardtail, Dualie and Trail, what does the pro's ride, and what specs are the same as 105 groupset, I dont want to go big this time, and also wants to do some road riding with it also

 

and why does so many pro's start to go into mountain biking, I now the roads in Jhb has heavy traffic on but I don't mind that,

Generally two types on MTB:

Hardtail - only front suspension (shock)

Dualie, full sus, full suspension - rear and front suspension (shock)

 

General categories of MTB's

Cross country/marathon

Downhill

Trail/All mountain

Road Pros realized they need to give MTB a chance when they had their rear end kicked by Pro MTB in road races.
