Steve Hayward knocked down by taxi

Apologies if this has been posted; (I have been away for the past three weeks, and a search of the site revealed nothing)

I just heard that Steve Hayward, Chairman of the PPA, was hit by a taxi on Marine Drive whilst cycling on the morning of December 30, 2010.

Steve fractured his pelvis, and is at present in the Milnerton Medi-clinic. He is apparently OK, but will obviously take some time to recover.

Holy S%$^$&T*(. I know him personally. A family friend. No wonder I didnt hear from him over New Years. I am gonna give his wife a call now and find out if everything is OK.

Saw him today. He seems chirpy enough, but a long recovery period awaits him.

Hectic, speedy recovery! Safer to stick on the mountain and trails these days!

Just got back from the Hospital and Steve is looking STRONG as ever. Going to be a long road to recovery. Just for the record, Steve was NOT riding on MArine Drive, it was a service road off Marine Drive. It really is a nasty accident and I wish Steve all the strength in his recovery. I will be popping in and making sure that your PVM bars are stocked Steve
