Customs require all importers/exporters to update there details, ill see if i can find the letter from SARS, i actually think it was before the 1st Jan

Thats interesting, I use a huge forwarder's (UTI and Barloworld) and import regularly and neither of them said anything to me either.

I will give them a call now and hear what they say.

I managed to get the geometry for the 29er and here it is.....I can also give you the email addresses if you guys need more info....I was thinking that if we can get a big order together we can reduce the shipping....

Here is the email addresses...gotobike05@vip.163.com

gotobike03@hotmail.com

I don't want to be the agent for them just thought that we can do a big order and then it has to be everyone for himself....simular to CRC....Just so you know not to come to me for warrenty's

Have a look here http://www.sars.gov.za/home.asp?pid=60547

Bottom right of screen is a item 'Customs presentation to SAAFF on data clean up' explains it but i know we got a letter after that with cut of dates etc

I spoke to UTI and Barloworld and both said as long as you are regular importer they will not delete you.

I dont know what regular is but I bring in at least 20 shipments annually Ocean and Airfreight so I am assuming thats more than regular. :)

Ok guys here is an update on this story.

Gotobike now has an agent here in SA, and they want us all the use that agent..

Now at first I thought wow cool idea.

But here is the catch, just look at the prices..

GOTOBIKE Price

$500 for 29 er frame $460 if you order more than 11

$600 for shipping / bank cost of 4 frames just you could avg it on $160 per frame

that is

R4620

Add vat

R5266.80 to land it here plus

R800 for custom paint

=R6066

do the same calc on $460 a frame and you will see that profit is even bigger

You can now buy that locally for R11 000

Thanks very much to another fellow south african for yet again....well you know what I mean.

Dont worry Coennie, that wont last, I know. Not many people are willing to buy no name brands. I had xt, xtr, sid, complete carbon 26" for 18k ..... not a single hit, hence me stripping the bikes and selling as spares. So there were manny before me.

i forgot to add they are selling it as a "brand" here and thus justify there cost like that.

They have also managed to get the surplier to stop selling blank frames to us....

Well I am sure there is another GOTOBIKE out there...

He wanted to sell me a blank frame if I take 4 at R9000 still making a fair share I think...

I would rather pay more then an get a Volcan....

Interesting that, Its easier for ASG to sell 100K Chinarellos' than it is to sell unbranded bikes at give away prices.
