I can't remember where on the hub I saw something about some of the Van Gaalens trails being a bit damaged by the storms.

Does anyone know if everything is back to normal? Want to hit the trails there tomorrow.

According to Eric its been fixed, dunno what the rains this week did to the singletrack by the river, the rest should be ok, so you can still get a good ride, maybe hit concrete strips, oom piets then greek church and river or just head home via district road

Say whaaaat. ;)

I've only been there once (Nissan series) and I didn't try to follow where I'm going, just tried to keep on keepin on.

Can you get a map or something there? (Dont have a Garmin for the bike). Or are the routes marked clearly?

Thanks for the info.

Even if you had the garmin files for it, it would be useless, some of the farmers have closed parts of the trails that formed part of the race route so you are not allowed to go there, and it doesn't form part of the normal trails. There is a one pager/map that they sometimes have at the trail head but dont count on it. Also the routes are not marked clearly(my only gripe with vg) so you can get properly lost...like in hours, but hey that is what makes trail riding lekker.

I can send you some links to my previous rides on garmin connect but i doubt that would help. Try and find someone to ride with that knows the place at the head. VG = heaven

VG is truely heaven  The markings are much better now than when I first rode it a year ago and you are unlikely to get lost. I rode it for seven hours+ last Sunday and the trails are repaired. Avoid Oom Piets after rain as the clay at the bottom of the mountain is bad news.
