Individual hill climb seeding TT (TODAY 11.01)

Time Trials does not necessary have to be a hill climb, but I also support your idea Woofie.

I mentioned this to Eulogy last season - how about including in a proper TT in the "thinning out league" events as you put it.

40/30km on a flat circuit or there about.

We are all different types of riders and I for one am Not in favour of hill climb TT's ;)

TT's will also shake up General Classification standings and is great for spectators to watch. Just you against the clock, no wheel sucking no drafting!

Not that difficult to find a flat piece of road on an out and back circuit either.

100% I cant climb so it would be unfair for me too.

But either a flat course that has at least one serious climb in it would be good or else they need to balance the results between a flat 20-40 and a hard single hill.

The only other problem is that most of us dont have TT bikes.

And if we start running bigger flat distances the advantages of the bars and deep wheels is really going to be substantial at the end.

On the up side, it would encourage the sale of more TT bikes.

It would be pretty cool to build a TT rig.

I wonder how cheaply it could be done?

I could salvage my old steel le-jeune, do a mcgyver to move the shifters up onto some TT bars. Then it will just be some deep sections.

Planet X has some awesome prices. So it may even cost less than 10K to get a nice fast (but old) rig going.

@Woofie- dink verseker ek sou n beter tyd kon doen as dit n liga was of beter adverteer is.

Ten minste was hulle timming reg, presies dieselfde op my Garmin gekry.

dude - you won by 23secs

never mind having 135km in your legs ...

It should not be compulsory to do the TT on a TT bike. Just slap on some aero bars if you want to and off you go. Obviously the advantage will go to the fully kitted guy but some TT courses are as short as 8km (TDF prologue) and some power house on his steel bike might still kick a fully kitted dudes butt!

It will bring a new and exciting dimension to the league.

TT courses should be predominantly flat, TT bikes were not built for climbing or cornering for that matter.

I dont have a TT bike either and it is not a discipline most of us train for, that is exactly why it will be interesting and why I would be willing to give it a full on bash!

Tankman, hardly anyone has a TT bike - the only guys that do are the ones who can really use them and hammer out a great time. With that in mind I think any league TT would have to be done on a standard road bike - no tri bars, disks or TT helmets - in order for it to be fair. I think it would be easy to administrate if you just made a rule that the bike used be UCI legal for a standard road race.

If that was the case and a TT were introduced I'd be absolutely delighted to do it.
