I am a bit out of the loop regarding MTB prices. My friend can buy the following for R 25K, is it a good deal or are there better deals out there?

Spes Epic S Works, Carbon frame, DT Swiss 1540 wheels, 240 hubs. Manitau MRD R7 shock. Full XTR drivetrain. Magura Martha brakes.

Cool.....now the next thing is that she will need some training partners. Anyone keen on helping out?

Obviously not a new setup, so how old is the bike, whats the condition, its carbon so make sure there are no cracks. I personally dont want to own a manitau. When last were the shocks and pivots serviced and or replaced.

Nothing wrong with Manitou, I've ridden several over the years. When the Manitou 2 (purple, baby) came out in '92, *everyone* wanted one!

Think it is a 2008 setup. Guy bought it for his wife hoping that she will take up the sport, but I know it hasnt been ridden once in the last year. Bike is at lbs to be checked out for and problems.

But at the moment one of the biggest selling points is that is colours is the same as current road bike and helmet.....

Thnx for info.

It sounds like a sweet deal, but like Covie said - make sure of the carbon. Let a expert inspect the bike.

Are you also paying for the training partners? lol ;)

Hell yeah! Then they also had the Manitou bike with duplication of the for for the rear suspension.
