Everybody doing trans-baviaans, pack your wetsuits!! Went through there yesterday, and its wet!! All the river crossing will make you wet. They're all about 30cm to 1,5meter deep! The road surface doesn't look that bad, but the river crossings is going to be a problem. Currently no vehicle can go through the kloof due to the deep water, but apparently they're going to try and make a plan that 4x4's can pass. Times will be much slower than last year! Pack lots and lots of wet lube!!

a river runs through it. Just an idee how strong the river is running through the kloof, and this was before yesterdays rain!

I hear a rumour that the route is being changed due to the water crossings. Has anyone heard something similar? There's nothing on the website so I am wondering about the accuracy of the rumour.

I think it's just a rumour, We have contact with a local farmer and he tells us the roads arn't that bad. The water crossings are a little deeper than usual that's all. He did the 2008 ride and says it's about the same now as it was then.

We have to get perspective on this. The last 3 years have been dry years. The current conditions are actually normal, not abnormal.

I think we're worring for nothing.
