Armstrong's Ex-mech Comments After Giving Evidence to Novitzky

More comments from one of the witnesses helping Novitzky with his enquiries... this is the guy who says he found steroids when asked to clear out LA's apartment.

"I've spoken to Novitzky on the phone at length last year. The guy is described by people as the Elliott Ness of his area of law enforcement and if you've got him on your tail you're in big trouble," Anderson added.

"He doesn't undertake things he isn't going to win. Those guys have a ridiculously high ratio of convictions - they don't undertake superfluous investigations and I don't think this is going to be a good outcome if you're Lance Armstrong."

...

Anderson, who says he has no personal vendetta against Armstrong, added: "We hear the same lies over and over again and they become truths.

"One of the comparisons I've made about Armstrong... is the kind of stuff that came out of the mouth of George W Bush about weapons of mass destruction and the war in Iraq.

"It was a bunch of made-up stuff and I think it's pretty funny that the media advisers to George Bush and Lance Armstrong are in the same building in Austin, Texas.

"It's the same group of guys who craft these nonsensical half-truths and the public laps it up because if you're a cancer survivor or a family member of someone who has gone through cancer you're far more apt to latch on to these stories because you need that hope.

"That's the irony really, that's the sadness behind all this in my view."

Why is novitsky specifically targeting LA? is he hoping that LA will roll over on everyone else, effectively cleaning up the sport in one foul swoop?

Not that I mind. The man can afford to come down a peg or 12

I think it's down to the misappropriation of public funds during the US Postal days. I'm not sure how much Novitzky or the FDA is interested in cleaning up cycling as a sport, so much as cleaning up sporting fraud and doping within the US.

The developments around hemassist, it being illegal for civilians to be in the possession of the drug outside of a clinical trial, isn't going to calm Jeff or his colleagues down one bit. :P

These allegations, new info, revelations on LA are getting boring. Find him guilty, make it stick or just eff off. I am neither for or against LA, but am getting gatvol of all this to and fro with regard to his alleged abuse of performance enhancing drugs.

Imaging for a second: The world spent as much time, as finding this has been guilty of something than on....mmmm lets say development of poorer athletes, then what?

All it seems like is some power and recocgniotion junkies trying to make a big name for themselves, oohh I am the oke that bought LA down.

Forget about it and move on, do we really care that the oke that won the TdF 10 years ago was a cheat? So what, will it actually make a diffrence in your life?

Love him or hate him, drugs or no drugs he is still an incredible athlete.

Hmm, personally I dont care either, but its gone beyond the athlete LA now.

With Novitsky now involved the focus has shifted to a criminal probe and the organised use of drugs within the US Postal team.

American law is complex, and the only way Novitsky can build his case is by interviewing people who surrounded LA in his days at US.Postal. Personally I think Novitsky is handeling the case with due respect, but I also think there are too many people coming forward now with info for them ALL to be called liars.

Makes a huge difference on so many levels, mostly because of the massive gulf between LA's carefully cultivated public persona, and the fraudulent doping persona that is emerging.

It draws a massive line underneath doping issues in sport that will be impossible to ignore for those otherwise not interested in cycling.

More books will be written and movies will be made. If you're bored now best start filtering it out because there is lots more coming.

Just allow them to take drugs, it would be far simpler. We give our kids drugs to perform better at school, getting better grades therefore getting better qualifications and bein ale to earn more money than they could have without drugs (Ritlin etc.) How unfair is that to the kids that cant take drugs to enhance their learning.

I am a crap cyclist because I dont have the Genetics, thats why I cant beat Lance. If you could give my mother and father the opurtunity to develop my DNA at birt I could be much beter

Is it about USPS or Armstrong?????

thats probably a better phrased question than mine.

What exactly is the aim of the investigstion? Who is their target? They havent indicted anyone yet, so at this stage it could be both?

Once again hearsay, why did he not keep some samples, it would be very simple to link directly to Armstrong. Amazing how many people who have a grief with Armstrong never have anything other than claiming to have seen something.

You could say all evidence is hearsay (or alleged) until its proved in court Scotty.

I hear what you are saying, but any case has to be built, its a process, evidence has to be collected, people have to be interviewed, historical facts have to be investigated, people talk and their comments have to be reviewed - at this level they cant just dicount a comment on the basis of "hearsay" so, I do think the comment is relevant in the context of the investigation, otherwise they could never build a case or close the report.?

Even in SA, if the police disregarded all the information from people in the area to criminal activity, from people who worked with the accused, from their friends and enemies because they said it was "hearsay" you would never get a conviction.

The truth is people generally follow a set of habits, a pattern if you like, its human and most often their downfall, these patterns are observed, and when enough people talk, the pattern emerges, and slowly but surely the police build a case.

I dont think theres anything sinister about the way this case is unfolding, its just a pattern emerging, unfortunately in the public glare, but thats the way all cases are built, and ultimately tested in court.
