So I got my new clipless pedals last night. Excitedly, I started undoing the the right cranks pedal with great success. Refitted the Cleat pedal, easy job.

On to the left side, LOL, I start loosening the pedal, but there is one catch, the pedal doesn't loosen, in fact, it feels like I'm tightening it even more.

After a short stint on Google, I realized that in fact, bicycle pedal thread is left/right-directional.

Man did I feel like a chop.

So for any other noobs out there, remember, on the left, you have to turn it clockwise to get it loose.

hahaha!

yeah, I have a friend that had to replace his cranks cos he didn't know there was a difference bewteen the right and left pedal threads.

What I do is put the pedal spanner in place. Then...

to tighten - pedal backwards while keeping spanner still.

to loosen - pedal forwards.

Same rule applies to left or right side

wedge, buycycle has eggbeaters on special for R281.58 plus the cleats

Where's the facepalm smiley? Thats less than what I paid for my wellgos.

Thanks for the info though, I might as well get a set at that price.

Too loosen turn spanner in direction of back wheel, to tighten, turn to front wheel, works for both sides

That's how I remember it :D
