Kit.....like in clothing?

Sheeeeeetttt man, get ready to have a heart attack in that case! I've also learned the hard way.

It really works out much more expensive than local clothing!

For parts, hell yeah, then it is a bargain, but clothes :o

Hope you knew this when you ordered?

I ordered Assos bibs which they had on a massive sale, but by the time I paid all the taxes and import duties it was R400 or R500 more expensive than in our stores!

ouch, no i meant kit as in hardware

new custom wheelset, pedals, mud guards and a new mouth piece for my camelbak.

Good luck with normal mail:

Order Item Status: Complete

Shipping Method: Royal Mail International | Shipping Date: 05/01/2011 00:00:00 SRAM Force Brakeset 2011 - Pair F&R 1117.57 ZAR Dispatched

Still waiting for this order

Dude, just phone EMS. The parcel is most likely at your post office for the past 20 days. It is our post offices that take for ever to deliver the "delivery-note"

p.s. As far as I remember they said on the CRC site that all orders over December and early Jan will be delayed due to high demand????

Been to the f'ing PO twice already, they can't do sh$t and Royal Mail is the economical mail delivery option and don't come with a Tracking Nr. **** at the counter keeps on telling me he can't do anything without the f'elling tracking number..

Ordered about R4500 worth of stuff (including a pair of Assos F1 Mille bibs for GBP148) two weeks ago.

Was under the impression that the VAT and R25/parcel was the only extra cash outlay - only to find that Customs decided to slap another R500 onto the Bill!

On what basis is this calculated? As a percentage of the value over a certain threshhold? What I am getting at, is that it should theoretically be possible to order enough to get free shipping, but little enough to escape the Customs Duty?

I orderd a xo groupset from CRC last week, got it this week.On a order of R3000 I had to pay R480 vat.Bought the Truvativ Noir(xo) crank on Ebay from Speedpark(Taiwan).Got it this morning. The crank was R2200,the same as on CRC,but the shipping was free. And guess what they charged me for vat?????R25!!!!!

Before you buy from CRC,try and source something on ebay .CRC has been marked by SARS!

All the stuff are made in Taiwan, try and find a Taiwanese seller on ebay. You'll never look back and save loads.

on an order of R4500 (if all parts) you would pay approximately 15.4% vat and other handling charges.

R4500*15.4% (0% duty on parts, 14% VAT and a 1.4% for handling) = R693 + R4500 = R5193.

Considering clothing has a higher duty % you got off well with only R500.

Hey guys, only joined now and saw the thread. Please shed some light on the duties. If you order clothes, how mush do you pay on duties and vat. Thinking of getting some long cycling bibs for winter. Does one pay Vat on the duties as well.

Royal Mail is their free shipping. I am REALLY concerned about my R3500 order which can't be tracked because it isn't a courier service...

Mmmm! I am worried that you pay R1000 for a pants and when it gets here it it will eventually pay R2000. It seems that there have been a few guys that have bought stuff from CRC and other places. Whats up with the clothes??
