Advice needed specially from people who used both makes or brand of helmet.

I am at a cross-roads. Need to buy helmets but cant make up my mind.

At these prices I only want to do this exercise once.

The Specialized S-works R2400.00

Rudy Project Sterling R1300.00

Bare in mind I need to buy 2, 1 for the wife too.

Price got me leaning towards the sterling. I haven't fit either on yet but I like the

look and style of both.

Is the R1100.00 price difference of the S-Works really worth it?

The helmets will be used majority MTB and a bit of road.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Firstly, the Stirling was advertised to be very light... something like 220g.... our's (2) are both almost 300g.... After a year of everyday use the padding has worn out. My Uvex's padding lasted more than 2 years of every day use...

Still a nice looking helmet, but heavier than advertised.

You should ask yourself the Question. Am I really a pro cyclist who rides a bike like Burry Stander or Kevin Evans? If you are... Buy the Specialized. If you are just a rider like me who rides to be fitter and in a better state of health. Buy the Rudy's. Bear in mind. You can almost buy the 2 Rudy's for the price of one Specialized.

Both are great helmets and both have the same purpose. Always think like this... The money that you save, buying the Rudy's, you can spend on another nice gadget. I love gadgets!!

Get yourself the S-works, and your wife the Specialized Align ( R 499.00), both in same colour - she won't know the difference.......works with bikes too.

Hi Yumeya, I am seling a white Rudy Sterling (L) with extra padding and visor for R900. The helmet is in a new condition and I only had it on for about 3 short rides. Great helmet, but have too many to get the joy from it, and currently only use my Giro Ionos.

Another one for the s-works....no its probably not worth the extra zars and the rudy will do the job just fine I am sure but.....everytime you walk past a s-works you going to think "I should have"

I am by no means a spez fanboy but lets face it, they make very nice accessories....do it

Thanks for the offer but even if I decided on a sterling my size is s/m.

Went and got me the sterlings. Rode with them today and found them to be comfy and lite, all in all I am happy with my purchase. They definitely

look better on my wife .

At that price you may as well import one.

Personally I would go Specialized just for the look, but then again Giro is also an awesome helmet. I am sure you can get cheaper prices on all those though?
