Advertises a Fizik CX - I made telephone contact with him wednesday 16th afternoon, confirmed I would come collect the saddle from his work on Thursday 17th.

8.50am thursday I sms'd to confirm I would come by after lunch. He confirmed, even gave me a colleagues name in case he was out.

12.47pm I get an sms saying 'sorry bro, but someone came to collect the saddle'

tells me, he has been messed around on a group set so it's ok for him to sell 'early bird catches the worm'

Mmm...I do believe in first come first serve. I have also kept products for someone just for the guy not to arrive. By that time the other potential buyers have come right somewhere else.

Maybe Joey100 should have been more open about his policy. "Yes, I still have the saddle, but whoever rocks up first gets it.".

Fair enough - I'll accept that.

Had i known that it was a race to get to his office and others were interested I would have made a plan to get there earlier.

Hey I'm a first come first served kinda guy but letting someone know an hour or two before the pick up is just plain rude.

Most of us need to make plans a day or two before to arrange pick ups and an sms a few hours before the meet would have me seriously miff.

I'm with RTG7

If a deal is struck over the phone, it is still a deal, and should be honnoured.

Agreed, but be open about your first come first sale policy.

I have also been messed around by hubbers not showing up and it peeves me.

So first with the cash is cool, but let the guys know, then they can transfer or make a hurry up like RTG7 suggested.

At least he sent an sms; many wouldn't have. By general standards, it seems a small lapse given the number of things he has sold (judging from his profile). And he didn't scarper with your money.

I guess every one can sell stuff on his/her terms, but if I made an arrangement with you to collect the item and you avoid me only to hear you worked on a first come first serve policy and made me do the trip, Well I will rather not say what I will think of you

Unfortunate that this would have been my first purchase off the HUB - an call me old fashioned but I believe people and what they say on the phone and in sms.

lessons learnt - and I suppose I don't have a history etc - i suppose as long as it was only ' a small lapse'

Don't be put off. I have bought many things on the hub. 99% of ppl on the hub are honest and ethical.

Maybe earlier warning would have been better but its water under the bridge now...For what it is worth, I get your point...people mess you around...happened with me as well, so I will not accept any "dibs" on my for sale threads, first man to bring the money gets the goods.
