  1. Ja 100%. Tell the community that unless they step up self policing and reporting of tsotsis, the event and Songo’s funding goes elsewhere. Simple.

    Cape Epic 2026

Hope so - will be so good.
  4. Hectic. I’d call Pyga and see what they recommend in terms of repair. At least they’re SA manufactured
  5. You’ll be quicker on a dual sus but 101% doable on a hardtail - I might even be on one by then this year too.
  6. The correlation between payday and "accidents" is not surprising, but very interesting nonetheless. On the occasions that I have got up early to do a big weekend ride back in Durban / Hillcrest and have stopped at garages to get juice / food / fuel etc at 4-5am, nearly every time I have witnessed very inebriated drivers speeding off after fueling up. I would bet that it would hugely mitigate risk if one does early morning rides on busy roads on a weekday rather than weekend as people will generally have work to go to so can't be hammered the morning of. Just food for thought and maybe it saves a few incidents.
  7. Regardless of what the letter of the law says, riding on a road where vehicles are coming from behind you at 120 km/h plus seems like a piss poor idea. But hey I’m just a dumb MTB rider.
  8. Arguably different markets but Race to the Sun, Berg and Bush 2 Day and NonStop Sani all on the same weekend. I know it’s the best time of year for racing but it would be so lekker if organisers tried to fit around each other better.
  9. John, I’ve never met you and assume that you must be a great coach and a very clever person to have achieved what you have. But if there’s one valuable lesson I am learning as I get older in life, it’s that sometimes it is better just not to type the comment, act like a know-it-all, or make others seem ignorant. Have a good one.
  10. Canceled due to FMD.
  11. I’m always amazed that someone who is “so important” has time to comment here with us little people. The superiority in nearly every post he places online is overpowering. Just would think that he has better places to be and more important people to talk to.

    Munga 2025

Call me a loser but to race the whole Munga with a mate, push each other all the way and finish first together sounds like a dream outcome.

    Munga 2025

Leaders group of 3 on 417km just before RV 2 Britstown.
  14. Alu bars, use a small section of old inner tube inside the clamp area on the flatter portions of the oval and clamp to 7nm - honestly surely nothing seriously bad can happen?

Look up Shermer's Neck https://www.welovecycling.com/wide/2017/08/10/creepiest-cycling-condition-shermers-neck/ I have friends who are young (ish) and fit and they both ended up with Shermer's last year. Holding a low position for 72-100 hours is not realistic for most hence a higher setup, not necessarily a weak core...

    Gravel burn 2025

Lucky it isn’t the CT Marathon organisers 😜
  17. Personally I’d go MTB or gravel with 2.2 tires min. The top is very, very steep and generally super loose as well. And I assume one needs to get down - will be sketchy as on a gravel bike.
  18. If it's purely for travelling, just put an old sock between the frame and cable?

    Gravel burn 2025

Also getting fomo 🤣 Definitely cost and stage of life. Other than sponsored guys very few 20-30 have the cash and then for 30-40 year olds it’s cash, time, leaving wife and children for 8-9 days etc etc.

    Gravel burn 2025

It seems that everyone stays in the tents - can anyone confirm if the elites are on site and plebbing it, or are they in camper vans / hotels? I really like the idea of them having the same experience as the rank and file - hope it's the case.
  22. Aero and race geo are a thing when you are running a 46 / 48t chainring.
  23. Ok thanks - I live in Howick so was going to offer to keep them overnight and you could collect and ride to the start but it may be a bit far and I think you’re looking for a solution from Durban to the start?
