Its been 1h and 10m and we have seen more riders standing still on bikes than riding. wtf is up with the coverage today?

noob question. What do you call the technique where people take their bottle and first swing it to the side like they want to PK the rider next to them before taking a sip? I've seen it in the seeding races as well. Can't you just take the bottle straight up to your face?

We got a nicer race packet at the Winelands race.

I opted for a R100 small pot from Shoprite and used a double boiler setup to melt the wax. Larger pot with water on gas stove, smaller pot with wax inside. Worked quite well.

My recent anecdotal experience: Been road cycling for a few years, wanted to get into MTBing (more like succumbing to peer pressure). I have no experience when it came to type of MTBs but was aiming for more XC style frames and I wanted at least something from 2021+ish. I looked at the classifieds for about 3 weeks, I went to go look at 2 bikes. I realized after 3 weeks I have no idea what I am looking at, or how to judge the condition of the bikes. In the end I decided I would rather just add about 15% to my budget and buy a new bike with a known history, but with the tradeoff of having a bit more 'entry level' components. I am sure there was probably a nice deal out there to find, but I could not do it and after 3 weeks of looking at ads I just wanted to get on a bike and start riding.

+1 for merlin, I recently ordered a some stuff from them for the first time to test it out. Had no problem with UPS clearing the order. They sent a mail with the clearance form and import/tax fee I had to sign and send back.

I recently got the thule bike rack with the locking arms. It is pretty lame that the bar where the locking arms attach is not locked or permanently connected to the rest of the rack that is locked to your tow bar. Ah, but they sell more lock accessories to fully lock the bike to the rack. What a stupid design.

I am giving Enduro Wax a shot on on my new setup. I used a double pot to melt the wax. I am recording my rides, so hopefully I will remember to report back here some time.

Question: What pot do you guys use for melting the wax? Does that generic small nail wax unit on takalot work or is it too small or does not go high enough in temperature?

Stupid question. I did the tour da PPA yesterday and noticed my seeding improved on the old racetec dot co dot za site. Is that a reliable source for my CTCT seeding? Or is there another method to view your current seeding. The information about seeding is very opaque.
