  1. Great to hear that there were fewer crashes this year, although the one by the finish line looked very sore 😬. My "race" didn't go according to plan as the plan was never to take pulls at the front but try and hold on until Suikerbossie. I arrived a bit "late" to the 1B starting chute (15min before gun fires), and took my place at the back row. Long story short, I couldn't move up when the gun went and on Hospital Bend I got caught behind a split and I knew that it going to be a tough day. Ended rotating pulls with a few people until we got to Edinburgh where I drove the pace and by the time we got to the top of the climb there were only three of us remaining. M3 downhill was hard stayed at the front rotating with the other two until we got caught by 1C train which we hopped on and it carried us until Smits where the group swelled again and I got spat out the back (again), and we formed a 2nd group which took us all the way to Chappies and again we split, and by the time we descended there were groups of twos, threes, and fours that formed and disintegrated along the rest of the route. Crossed the finish line in 3:14, my first Sub-4 after 3 previous tries, happy with how it all turned out although Sub-3 would've been nice. Lesson learnt: I need to train more, increase FTP and learn to surge and hold an Anaerobic effort so that I'm not caught behind splits again. The vibe was great along the route, grateful to be able to participate in such a great event.
  2. I don't get why teams ride and then don't even get to top 5 - case in point Decathlon, and what happened to Jasper P? Anyway Brennan was in a league of his own with that convincing sprint 🤩
  3. MVDP at it again, what a ride in suspect weather. Still shaking my head in disbelief though, why did Florian take turns with him? Pride?
  4. 100% agree with the sentiment re those riding beyond the white line, a few times I had to shout "you're on the wrong side of the road" cos we had cars coming up from opposite direction and the pushing in as a result of this was just an accident waiting to happen. I'm glad though that we had zero crashes in our group this time - unlike the three we had at 99er.
  5. I saw the the outliers in group C when reviewing the finishing times last night, wow..that was some impressive riding!
  6. Guilty as charged, I was "encouraged" to shave my pistons, would definitely be borrowing my wife's shaver before the Cycle Tour 🤩
  7. D batch was proper today, took a few pulls at the front (was wearing Team Vitality kit), overdid it a bit cause legs gave up on the 2nd last climb, limped home in 2:55:22. Tough day in the office for sure.
  8. So I signed up for Tour de PPA on last day of reg, and next day received my CTCT seeding, currently seeded in 1D - exactly what I was hoping for, so will go have some fun on Sunday and hope to improve seeding even more 😄
  9. This will be my first Tour de PPA, I'm starting in batch DL, hope I can improve seeding for CTCT.
  10. Seedings are out, start times are later than 99er and Durbie Dash, hopefully it doesn't get hot.
  11. Cooler than today would be most welcome, hopefully it's also dry on the day
  12. This was my experience at Durbie Dash, put in a ton of work at the front with about 6-8 others only to get dropped by the bunch on Adderley cause they all kept their legs fresh for the "sprint". Anyway I still ended Top3 in my starting batch as we had caught the group ahead of us.
  13. This might be the best way to go but perhaps I'll just wait to see where I'm seeded instead of stressing over it. I'm sure I'll do close to a Sub3 time (if I don't actually go Sub3) - both of which I'll be happy with.
  14. No idea but makes sense since it'll depend on how many people have entered that year i guess.
  15. I think that's my dilemma, whether to do a Tour de PPA or skip it and hope to get a decent seeding for Cycle Tour. I'm hoping for a 1A-1D seeding for cycle tour if my current index is good enough, if not then I'll sign up for Tour de PPA and hope to improve it there.
  16. Current index is 30.98 and my group Min is 30 and Max is 35.
  17. I'm currently seeded E and I was hoping to move up to the next eligibility but 99er's adjusted winning time means that my seeding has improved but not enough (.99 short) to move me to the next group, so no change in seeding. Anyone have an idea of what that loosely translates into for CTCT seeding? Not sure if I should enter Tour de PPA or just hope to get a seeding in 1(A-F) batches.
  18. Makes you wonder how finishtime got this wrong or was transponder handed over to a mate in B?
  19. Also noticed this and I believe it was an error.
  20. It's all relative. Put it another way, group E had 43 people that finished in 2:30:16 or faster (best time was 02:28:23) - I was not one of them as I finished in 02:32:02(60th position in E). Looking at group P, they only had four people that finished faster than me with the fastest time coming in at 2:30:25, so I wouldn't say that both groups finished "in the same time", but it was still a good show that they put on so hats off to them.
  21. Hey I also pulled - for like 2mins 🤪 right after we pulled out of the Suburbs. There was a lot of firepower in group E and couldn't rotate to take another pull, thanks for the tow.
  22. Completed my 1st 99er yesterday, and I agree with the sentiments shared regarding the event - very well organised and everyone was so friendly. The students clapping for us after the finish line as we turned towards the school was a welcome surprise. Pity the groups were a bit too big and resulted in people riding into oncoming traffic, despite the marshalls' best efforts to contain them. I started in E and our group caught quite a few people from D and C and the odd ones from A as well. So it ended being larger than when we started. I unfortunately got caught in a big crash on Old Malmesbury one-way bridge just before the climb into R304, and that was the last time I saw the front of our group. The group finished on 2h28 and I came in at 2h32. Stoked with the result and would definitely come back. P.S - Lucky draw could be done a bit earlier 🙂
  23. Infuriating, glad you and your mates didn’t get hurt.
  24. My first DC in the bag. Our team disintegrated in the heat and wind and we had to send six up the road to make the cutoff as a mixed team. While we missed out on Charles Milner by 6mins, the whole team finished and the post celebrations were made the whole occassion that much better. I'm already thinking of the next one 🤩
  25. We are going with a mixed team, my first DC - took a while to get the fitness good enough for the distance, and we are aiming for Charles Milner medal, so it'll be a long gees filled coffee ride 😎
