Was a good ride last week, even with Mikebike's broken collar bone.......so this week will be SLOWer! Everyone welcome of course. Plan to do the normal Spruit route up to and around Emmerentia and then on to Alberts Farm and back to Fratellis. Ride is +/- 25km and will be a gentle pace to avoid more race snakes breaking themselves. 17.45 RIDE: meeting at Fratelli's, cnr Conrad & Hillcrest, Blairgowrie. (leaving 18.00 & returning around 20.00 for pizza and beer with anyone who wants to stay.) Will be dark around 19.15 so bring lights. Look for me on the silver Pyga.

Mike had his op last night and was up and about this morning.......don't think he'll be quite ready for next Wed's night ride though!

Mike made a break for Fratellis near the end of the ride but only managed to break his collar bone, badly! He was flying and hit the ruts at the middle section of Delta by the blue bridge where there are four routes, all bad except the far right, he took the left side and went down sideways in a rut. Think he landed on his shoulder as he did not get his hands out. I managed to get my car into the park and then took him to Sunninghill. Mike, you owe me pizza and beer as I missed out!

Another eventful but fun night ride. See what happens when you let race snakes on the SLOW ride!!! Spoke to Mike and he has to wait until tonight for a surgeon but getting some nice drugs in the meantime.

I will join Karma for the 4.30.......FAST(ish)...ride and then be back by 5.45 for the 6pm SLOW night ride.

Will we back in time for the REAL ride at 6pm?

I'm away till the New Year, hope the rides are good and look forward to getting back on the Spruit then. In the meantime I will be whizzing around Oak Valley and Hermanus, checking out some of the rock spider riding! Best wishes to all.

Yip, great ride and great to see/meet everyone..........no group photo I'm afraid! 9 riders for the 4.15 group and then 16 for the 5.30 group, great turnout! The first group clocked a nice 40kms at 16km/h As Mike said, couple of punctures and a couple of tumbles, well Arete did say she would fall to christen her new wheels, but all good and I think it was a full turnout for pizza and beer after.

Come on, you know you really want to!

Walker Bay Adventures seem to cater for everything, anyone have experience? Looking at doing some diving along with MTB riding and maybe a bit of paragliding.

Cool, bringing your bike with? I believe Grabouw is very good and sort of half way?

Presume you can ride them anytime on your own......we are from JHB and don't do 5.45 unless it it pm!!!

Groups are.......16.15 and 17.30, to be clear. Don't want to miss you again or you'll never get that tyre!!!!

Will be around Hermanus for a couple of weeks from the 16th Dec 2012 and am looking to hook up with other MTB riders in the area and find out about routes and trails. I've read a couple of threads and it seems to be Hermanus Cycle Club and Euodia Cycles that are the ones to talk to. I also believe that I should try Grabouw and Fernkloof? Any other advice or ideas would be very welcome and helpful. Also looking for somewhere descent to stay overnight around Graaf-Reinet on the way down from JHB? Cheers, Norm

No, it is a sealed bearing in a press fit cup and the Pyga took a drop in bearing! The bottom section of the head tube needs to be big enough to take the press fit cup which has the 1.5 bearing in it, hence is bigger than 1.5"!

I have the bottom section of a 1.5 inset Chris King that would not fit my Pyga if its any use to you.

Agreed, we were riding round and round waiting for it to get dark before hitting the hills in Alberts and the night time section is the best!
