This is my exact experience as well. A bit annoying that I struggle to listen to a podcast or music while using the app unless I set up other devices and pair headphones etc. Solvable problems but adds admin to the process when you just want to climb on and ride especially when under time pressure. To try solve, I also looked at downloading to an older gen iPad and unfortunately it’s not supported on that iPad despite the iPad running the latest IOS… One thing to add as a potential bug - power data tends to jump up and down when putting down power and gradient is changing. Did a ride yesterday and I’m consistently doing 350 watts for a few minutes up a hill but every few seconds it shows a drop to 150w and then back up. Overall I still think whoosh is a great alternative given its free and I will continue to use it.

Hoping this is the most appropriate thread. Thinking of moving to Klapmuts (southern Paarl/ northern Stellenbosch) to an estate near Piggly Wiggly. Does anyone know how safe it is to cycle to the various trails around the area, namely spice route and Paarl mountain, and then the trails at Knorhoek and Boschendal? anyone aware of issues with the Klapmuts low cost/ informal settlement close by?

Supacaz cages seem to work well with all bottles I have tried and are very light. Mostly MTB and never had any issues with bottles falling and slides in and out easily. They do seem to leave black marks on the bottles which is a little annoying but potentially a worthwhile compromise. Camelbak podium bottles FTW

you can pick up a much better spec’d Titan Cypher for the same price as these options. It’s a no brainer if you are on a budget - the value for money on the Titans is very impressive.

Enjoyed the race overall and despite only partial road closure, felt pretty safe 90% of the ride. The start is a mess though. Started at the back of A with hopes to stay with the lead group, but by the time you get onto witkoppen you have already been dropped 🙈 had to burn A LOT of matches to try get up with any sort of decent group after that. Why not lead out the batches 1 by 1 and have the start as a bunch on witkoppen? Or get the seeding right and have more, smaller batches. also, where exactly was the official end? I was in a sprint finish but I think we had both already passed the finish line 🤣

Regarding seeding, are there specific races that are considered to contribute to this? The website just states "Seeding for day one will be based on recent events and/or your last sani2c results" So are all recent races considered or does size of the race come into it? Assuming you have never done Sani previously. @sani2c

Spark is a great bike. But having the carbon wheels and AXS in the cypher carbon pro, which I didn’t have on the Spark, automatically makes it a better ride IMO. And lighter which is always a plus. But tough to compare apples and apples.

I am also 1.87m and decided to go for the XL cypher (bought 6 months ango) after riding a Large Scott Spark previously. Very happy with the size, feel nice and centred on the bike even when moving around when riding trails.

I have been down the route of trying many saddles and am tentatively settling on the Spez Power saddle with Mimic (9/10). I honestly think that Mimic is magic, which is potentially just added padding actually. then also been trying out SQ labs which is pretty comfy (8/10) but haven’t done a longer ride as yet. And some more opinions based on my experience. Spez Phenom was also comfortable (7.5/10). Bontrager Montrose Elite - comfortable (6.5/10). Bontrager Aeolus (4/10). Selle Italia Aspide (4/10). Syncros standard Scott spark saddle (3/10). I would love to try the phenom with mimic, and one day when the ship comes in a 3D printed saddle - everyone I know who has tried one raves about them including bike fitters (or if you spend 6k on a saddle you may feel the need to justify the purchase)

I have found cycle lab prices on products and their price match policy really good. And never had an issue with warranties either. Generally good service in store at 4ways and Lynwood and online. And like others say, the promotions and specials are good. I have however stopped doing services there due to bad experiences with the workshop, and have heard of a few similar stories. I now only service my bike at my LBS in centurion. I generally find that the LBS allows more of a personal touch with services.

I don’t see much mention of Tacx/ Garmin app. I use that and find the videos and training options awesome. And they are very reasonably priced. The training also feels realistic, unlike zwift where you sit in a bunch averaging 40kmh for 2 hours but on the road can’t even manage to hold 30kmh for 1 hour. Free zwift kms make the strava profile look better 🙈

My Tacx Flux S recently died after a year of use. It was still under warranty so fortunately got given a new one through cycle lab after garmin confirmed it couldn’t be fixed. The frustrating part - after just ONE ride with the new unit, it has also died on me. Extremely frustrating! Anyone else have issues with the Flux S? I run other devices (printer and WiFi) from the same plug and have never had issues with those devices, so can only conclude that the fault is with the trainer.

FYI, I just contacted Cycle Lab and they said they do not do this unfortunately. They advised that I speak to Aramex.

I have heard of a few stories of broken spokes, on this thread and 2 other mates which have a Titan. But then again, I know others who do not ride Titan that have also had problems with broken spokes...it may be more of a general challenge with carbon rims on a MTB since they have more flex. I can't say for sure since the Reynolds rims on the Carbon Pro are the first carbon rims I have used on a MTB, so my only reference point is aluminum rims on a 2018 Spark. So I wouldnt really label this a Titan issue but probably the "cost" of carbon rims?

I can't offer a long term review but recently bought the cypher carbon pro and happy overall. Agree with all of the points above - value for money etc etc and ride is comfortable and responsive. I did break a spoke on a tame trail ride on it, not doing anything adventurous at all, which perplexed me and my LBS...hoping this was a freak incident and doesnt happen again. But the peace of mind with the frame warranty and on the reynolds rims (model dependent) is a big plus. If all holds up from here then I would see myself riding the bike for a good few years to come!

I had the exact same thing happen to me with new Assos bibs earlier this year. I stumbled across the crash replacement policy, contacted them and provided the necessary information (photos, details of crash etc). Because it was within the "new" timeframe, they sent me a full credit to order new bibs on their online store. They then ship it from Europe, and they even covered the full cost of delivery. Even when I got a call from customs asking for nearly R2000 for customs duty, I emailed Assos and they said they will cover that too!!! Bibs arrived a couple of weeks from starting the process. This experience alone has made me a massive fan of Assos - customer service was exceptional - nevermind the fact the bibs are the most comfortable bibs I have used (this is not a paid advertisement). As for the repair - I obviously kept the damaged pair and recently took them to a local dry cleaner to check if they repair. They do. Small patch inside with some stitching visible from the outside, so a very neat job. That cost me like R150, and now have the extra pair of still very usable bibs.

Following. I just bought the Look X-Track pedals after riding Shim XTR for a long time - it was time for new pedals anyway but went with Look for the (slightly) wider platform and claimed stability and better power transfer...maybe I was a victim of unsupported marketing claims...

@Titan Racing Bikes is the quoted weight on the website based on a medium frame size? My overall bike weight is coming in more than claimed but assume this is because it’s an XL frame?

@Matt please don’t let BH became like other social media platforms that just cancel people/ posts because it “violates their community guidelines” (read: they don’t agree with your opinion) - I appreciate that this isn’t the case on the post deletion here since the reasons you note for removing the post make sense…I have however been actively involved in threads that have disappeared with no explanation, which only had posts which were innocuous. In my view, BH is only made cooler by the ability to converse openly 🙏🏻
