  1. Wow! This sounds intense! 50 degrees is disgustingly hot, no wonder the medics made that call. I am sorry that you didn't finish- you must've felt so many things. I am sure next year you will smash it!
  2. These are my fat cats. All they do is eat and sleep Currently fostering 3 ginger kittens after the fire in Hout Bay. They have far too much energy to stay still for a picture!!
  3. Welcome!
  4. There is nothing wrong with running at that HR, however, there is a lot of research suggesting you run in zone 2 for endurance. I mix the two up when I train to work on speed and endurance. It depends what you are working on. If you are healthy and don't have a heart condition, then running at that HR should be fine
  5. I need to be reminded of this occasionally!
  6. Girl, running is the bane of my life too. But, I have (very slowly) started to enjoy it- but only slightly. I would swim and cycle my whole tri if I could. I think the hill sessions that fanievb suggested would be a good way to go.
  7. Sho! I am sorry to hear about the metal sandwich, but it is great that you experienced such amazing service from Discovery. That is super impressive
  8. I am with you 100% I have been thinking the same thing. I suffer from migraines which leave me unable to exercise or function for 3 days (on average). Trying to keep up with my 900 point weekly goal is near impossible if I have a migraine. But it is possible that the reason they do this is because they know that not everyone can maintain the points and so they don't have to reimburse as much.
  9. Good idea! Hope you come right
  10. Just be careful with your fruit intake. Fruit, although it has lots of fibre, has got a fair amount of sugar in it (the good sugar). Too much fruit may spike your blood sugar, which will make you feel tired later on. Add some veg or nuts
  11. Maybe the energy issue will be resolved after getting a good post training snack in/ diet overhaul
  12. Welcome! Enjoy your stay
  13. You can try silvermine. I am not aware of any groups that swim during the week, so you will have to do a swim by yourself in the sea
  14. Are you maybe over training? And are you taking rest days?
  15. Aw well, good luck with the training!!
  16. Hi EmJay! Welcome! Where are you based? I am also new to triathlon so looks like we are in the same boat
  17. Someone is fortunate Work on your core muscles. Not the superficial ones, but the deep ones that are near the spine. After a few core training sessions, your backache should ease.
  18. Random question, where do you do your open water swims?
  19. I didn't see it on the list of approved wetsuits for IM, that is why I asked. I was just checking because I am seriously considering buying one!
  20. is the blusmooth ITU legal? It looks decent and its an amazing price!
  21. Is it me, or is the discovery website having issues? Everytime I log in, there is a new issue. Yesterday, I logged in and I "hadn't activated" my healthygear (I have). Then when going to activate it, I was ineligible to activate it. I have yet to see if this has been resolved. Next came healthycare (which has been activated). Another issue that crops up is that it says I have hit my yearly limit for vitality fitness points. I am nowhere near my limit. I managed to workout my fitness points for the year and I have less than 10 000 points (you are capped at 30 000). And, I am also waiting for my fitness assessment points
