  1. I heard the commentators mention this weekend that Murray Walker has turned 97. Fantastic innings, and he has seen so much racing in his time. Although apparently he was asking Martin Brundle(?) what was happening in F1 these days. I guess he also thinks that it's not worth watching anymore. Thank goodness WRC is back (and also Seb Loeb from time to time).
  2. Great photos. The recent ones from Swartkops are amazing.
  3. It's a pity the Red Bull air races have ended. 2019 was the final season, and it's appropriate that this guy walked away as the last champion of the series. https://youtu.be/TXkGhQDYnAA
  4. Interesting video on YouTube where Porsche took the 919 LMP1 car when it retired from competition and removed all the LMP1 limitations (engine restrictions, aero, weight) and then ran it at Spa. It broke Hamilton's lap record.
  5. Got Fulcrum (Campag) wheels when I bought the (used) bike, and I despise the noise. That's definitely the next upgrade. It's like being a Harley owner, all noise and no go (or as they say in Texas, "all hat and no steers"). A quiet bike is a well set up bike. (Also, I have tinnitus so I'm just grouchy about sound).
  6. Wonderful story!
  7. When we start imitating birds and animals there's hope for the human race. Thinking about it, this isn't the same as drafting in the peleton. https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/airbus-formation-flight/index.html
  8. He's really doing the business there!
  9. Interesting! One thing's for sure - when they open the throttles for take-off, that plane sure hauls ass.
  10. I flew down to PLZ with Safair for the weekend. It was great to be back in the air again. ORT was weirdly deserted on Friday, and the health procedures were in full effect. Until you get onto the plane, then it's like sardines in a can. @LWB - I was chatting to one of your colleagues while waiting at the gate in PLZ and he mentioned that the Safair planes are ex-SAA? I was wondering how old they are, because they seem to be a lot louder that some 787-800s.
  11. Want it!
  12. Your post made me check the Ghosts out today, and I walked out the shop with a pair of black Ghost 13s. Felt good in the shop, tomorrow I'll give them a 10k and see how it goes. Time to retire the Asics (Gel Flux 4). 2200kms according to Strava.
  13. Seems like Poobie Naidoo's is back online again. Good thing, it's time for new shoes for me. Picked up a calf strain and then noticed that the left shoe is .5cm lower than the right!
  14. I'm sure these planes were parked up next to the flying school at Lanseria for years. I have an idea the Learjet may have belonged to Westjet. If it did, I believe it hit a dog on landing in Moz, and although it was repaired and flown back it didn't return to active service as the owner left the country shortly after. (Of course I may be mistaken, a frequent occurrence the days)
  15. The car rental return area at LHR is right next to the runway, and when those 747s take off you can only wonder at the power being unleashed. It's a great spot for aviation enthusiasts, especially as you're probably going to be on one of those beauties within a couple of hours of returning your rental.
  16. Wow, yes! That's a good deal on yogurt. But seriously, I wonder what that plane is doing in that neighborhood
  17. And that's why you should slow down for speed bumps...
  18. Nowadays I still go out and look for the planes now if I hear them.
  19. My Asics Gel Flux 4s are about o hit the 2000km mark so I guess it's time to dig into the piggy bank. What's the best bet for online at good prices? (edit: physical stores are also good if in Jhb northern suburbs). Totalsports has deals but unfortunately nothing in the size I need.
  20. I watched this years ago on DSTV, but somehow never saw all of the series and in the right sequence. Watching it again properly this time - this is scary aviation. https://youtu.be/k0MpP1hxyc4
  21. I'd enjoy a convo with Patrick and his mate in the right seat over a couple of tinnies. And I wouldn't like to pick up my keys for that baby after a service without a current Motorplan.
  22. Astonishing little glider and skills
  23. I'm seeing some stunning builds on YouTube, especially on the RAMY RC and RCHeliJet channels. Agree with the pricing issue. I had a quick look at the price of the bigger radial engines - nearly passed out. I could buy a decent BMW adventure bike for that kind of money.
  24. Will they or won't they? See if you can call it (without first reading the video description). nvm- the title gives it away, but it's an amazing video anyway
  25. The Road Less Graveled (er, Traveled)
