  1. Probably. But also a coincidence that it happened while missiles are flying in and out of Iran?
  2. Nice work!
  3. Had the big TV showing Big Jet TV live from Heathrow all afternoon yesterday so I could watch while doing other stuff. IMHO 747s are still the most impressive take-offs and the highlight was the takeoff of the BOAC liveried 747.
  4. I'd love to see this orchestra. You might laugh at "wa wa waa" but then you'll soon be wanting more. And their other film pieces are awesome.
  5. Fixed the peroneal problem unexpectedly yesterday afternoon. I was repacking the garage and dropped my son's guitar amp off a shelf onto the foot. Don't feel the peroneal tendonitis at all anymore. However...
  6. All the time in the world to go running now, and what do you know: adductor major strain AND peroneal Tendonitis.
  7. Great movie
  8. Or you can build them yourself?
  9. Another feelgood story about cycling: https://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/feel-good-beating-the-cycle-of-poverty-dr-bikes-passion-is-putting-bread-on-the-table-20191216
  10. After the recent events around CSA, I think more sporting organizations will come under scrutiny and possible activism by the sporting community and sponsors.
  11. I was very surprised to pick it up. I just saw a "large" aircraft icon over Pretoria where there's usually nothing. They always show up red when I click to track them, whatever their type. Update: I'm still picking it up, parked at Lyttleton(?).
  12. Tuesday night - 21h42 and CR is coming back early. Somebody from Eskom is going to get an earful at tomorrow's meeting.
  13. I've spent enough time in Ireland in winter to know that my reluctance to run in the rain here in summer is pathetic. How do you manage to run in the Irish winter?
  14. While the rain has wet Eskom's coal and caused load-shedding, it's reduced my mileage this week to zero. Hopefully there'll be a break tomorrow morning and I'll get a run. I've read that it's a good idea to cut back every few weeks for recovery. I noticed a slight drop in pace over the last few weeks, so it will be interesting to see what effect the forced break has had.
  15. Are there "whistle-blower" or tip-off programs in place at SAA that honest employees can use to draw attention to these practices? That might alert the BRP to the problem areas. It's become fairly common in businesses (especially those who have had a brush with corruption, such as SAP, EOH et al).
  16. Wish they could get Michael O'Leary to lend a hand, he would seriously shake things up. I suspect he says outrageous things about passengers and the EU commissars just to distract his competitors from his next move. And look where Ryanair is now, with all that (bad?) publicity - #1 in Europe.
  17. Any airline that makes a profit is working very hard for it. For SAA it's been like fighting with both hands tied behind the back, given the useless and corrupt top management they've been burdened with. The ground staff, management and flight crews who have been working hard to save the airline will now, hopefully, get the backing they deserve.
  18. Basically this means that the Business Rescue Practitioner will be able to make meaningful plans and execute without interference from anyone, including government and ANC. It also means that an equity partner can at last be brought in, no matter how loudly the opponents (and there will be many, including unions and snouters) may protest. This puts CR in the position of being "not involved" and away from the fallout that will come from cleaning up the mess. Tito will be delighted, no doubt. This must be SAA's best (and last) chance at survival. There are many that argue it should die, but I believe that there are good reasons for it to live on. And there are good people working there, let's hope they can hold on.
  19. Or maybe even connect with Saffers in NZ (I believe there are one or two there) who want to get funds to SA for family here. Split the difference on the exchange rate (that's where you get royally shafted by the banks) and save on fees. We do that with family in the UK and it works well.
  20. Modifying the old saying: Those that can, do. And those that can't, moan and bitch. I've painted my own bikes and on my best day I can't get close to Bogus's rejects. I'm in awe of the skills and impressed by his readiness to do the right thing. Next time I need a bike painted it won't be done by me (and hopefully I can afford to get it done right).
  21. Mad Max, Saffer style! Mechanic dude should be wearing leather BDSM kit, and have a driving seat on the disselboom facing forward.
  22. This looks epic!
  23. Pilot's dumped girlfriend used her nail scissors to inflict revenge.
  24. Or simply swap them out with Mango, they won't mind the colour.
  25. Just a quick shout out to LWB and the good people at SAA, to wish you strongs in these difficult and uncertain times. It can't be easy and we feel your pain.
