  1. Amazing. There was that theory that all the world's aircraft couldn't find enough place to park all at once, but that myth's busted now.
  2. Sunday morning 08h40. One King Air, and a chartered 737 inbound from Nairobi. That's it.
  3. The estate management determined that residents can go out singly and maintain their social distance after the Minister of Police clarified his position on Radio Jacaranda last Friday. But the clear message was - within the estate, not on public roads. "Walking and cycling on your own within an estate will be allowed, says Cele. Police Minister Bheki Cele clarifies lockdown uncertainties on Breakfast with Martin Bester" https://www.jacarandafm.com/news/news/cele-clarifies-no-jogging-no-walking-dog/
  4. I did my 10k on the estate this morning. Even with a calf strain from Thursday's "last" run it felt good and I feel very fortunate. I hope all runners get through this okay. We complain about the uncertainty and confusion around our favourite events, but in the end all we really want is to be running.
  5. I hope this is true. (and I hope the estate management reads it) https://businesstech.co.za/news/government/384585/yes-you-can-walk-your-dog-and-go-for-a-jog-during-lockdown-minister/
  6. It's looking like any kind of outdoor activity or training is verboten, even on the residential estate. Anyone heard different? Or am I going to be doing burpees and star jumps for the next 3 weeks?
  7. An early onset of cabin fever? Us Saffers can't sit inside for too long, even with Netflix on offer.
  8. This is a great thread. Always worth coming over to see the comments. It occurs to me that we runners are very fortunate, because we can go on running as usual while gyms etc. are being closed or restricted. It also occurred to me, watching a few cycling groups going by me in Fourways on Saturday, that group riding is way too close for social distancing, especially when drafting. I guess snot rockets will be banned (at last)?
  9. I live in Fourways, under the ORT approach and depart (some) routes, and close to Lanseria. It's been VERY quiet here since last week.
  10. Just read this article about them in Florida - fascinating. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/snakes-ate-florida-180972534/
  11. Or maybe this is in Florida, where there's a bounty on the large pythons?
  12. Discovered that problem when I bought my second pair of running shoes (Maxed) - almost immediate Achilles/calf pain. Made sure the next pair (Asics) had less heel drop and problem ended at once.
  13. The "Marilyn Monroe" flypast?
  14. When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. When life hands you wood-borers,...
  15. Ken Block?
  16. If my location was also Cape Town I think I'd have no need for a TV. In Jhb it's part of the coping mechanism.
  17. Just picked up on this series on the TV shows thread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3RjayAF0b4 Looks good!
  18. I had a Cox Baby Bee powered line-control model airplane when I was a kid that flew like that little dog is doing here.
  19. Sometimes your GPS will do that to you.
  20. Better than no flights at all, but the business travelers need those early/late flights so I expect that will drop passenger load factor even more, making the route even more marginal.
  21. The first movie boosted military recruiting in the USA when it launched. I wonder if this will do the same?
  22. Thanks, that sounds relatively straightforward. I guess tyres get turned regularly to avoid "flat spots"? The video has some interesting comments on Boeing's plans to monitor social media.
  23. An interesting review of the process of getting the 737Max back into service. Aside from the challenge of finding enough flight simulators for all the pilots when the time comes for retraining, it seems that reintegrating the aircraft into flight schedules will be a big challenge. Question for LWB: What's involved in bringing an aircraft that's been parked for a year or more back onto the flight-line?
  24. Looks like fun!
  25. NASCAR! Where "rubbin' is racing".
