  1. ... and waaaay more fun - it's to running what MTB is to cycling
  2. maybe for the top guys ... and maybe if they're trying to win a league by putting 50 kays a week on their feet ... for me, jogging improved my climbing a lot i don't think the 'impact' of a few kays once or twice a week would do your body any damage
  3. oooh yay, let's do it!

  6. is this freedom challenge gerda???
  7. we re talking about an insignificant little climbie at van gaalens cheese farm
  8. found it hiked some of it up cos i'm just not strong enough. nice and technical!! the downhill was just awesome. would not like to do it in the wet, though. have to admit that there's 2 teensy-weensy-short sections on the down that i walked ... will have to go back and do it again, obviously
  9. no one would know your colour if you don't volunteer the info - but we'll catch you soon if there's too much roadie-talk in your posts!
  10. anyone for tuesday night bikepark?
  11. tintin, i've arranged to meet a few buddies there for a ride after the run - join us if you want to! legs might feel the run, so it's gonna be a playride more than a training ride - no idea what time we'll start riding - the 20k run starts at 8:30, so last people will probably only be off the track by 11 - 11:30
  12. sounds great - but already entered the rogaine that weekend - please let me know when the next one is, i've ridden some of the tracks from chickenpie to van gaalens and back, and absolutely loved it!
  13. i bet he couldn't!
  14. oooooh she is really really pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. how on earth do you get your company to hold a function there? i'm not jealous. i'm not jealous. oh allright, i AM!
  16. was that yesterday in hendrik verwoerd in randburg?
  17. did a trailrun there on sunday and all the time was thinking that i'd love to take my bike there - especially on some of the downhills! there were mountainbikers on the paths while we were running - was quite annoying to have to go off track to 'give track' just to run next to the trail to pass them when they're pushing their bikes - just to 'give track' a few minutes later - but the mountainbikers seemed to know where the trails go to - like regular riders would - saw some nice technical tracks, and an advert about mtb, didn't ask about mountainbiking afterwards, though. superb for running!
  18. awwww bigs you could have earned that special 5yr-jersey! yes, going to the preride and very much looking forward to it!
  19. for sunday? there's a trailrun on saturday, ot sure if MTBs will be allowed on the track during the run. taking my MTB for afterwards, though
  20. i'd guess just what you usually do - sensible healthy stuff, e.g. not macdonalds every day and fruits & veggies, a multivitamin and you'll be fine. are you doing the preride to go check out the trails?
  21. no! don't have it tested! the only south africans without cholestrol are those that haven't been tested ...
  22. what's the difference? schwynn - hope your friend who had a taxi-incedent is ok RIP fellow cyclist :(
  23. possibly going there for an afternoon-nightride, and hopefully introduce a colleague to some of the pleasures of cycling. i love it on tuesdays, the park is empty so you've got all the singletrack to yourselves
  24. sometimes it's not the 'flu though - could just be a common allergy that causes a runny nose, but in stead of shaking it off like it usually does (if your immune system is in place), it becomes an infection and moves down to your lungs. my own totally unscientific theory goes like this: after you trained, your body needs to concentrate on recovery, and it doesn't multitask that well, so while it's recovering, it lets the guard down a little bit, so when there's an allergy or an irritation or a mild flu strain, the defense system don't pay attention (cos it's busy somewhere else), and you get sick. my own totally unscientific solution is to just rest inbetween training sessions (like teh-runner said) ... and helping it by adding some multivitamins won't harm ... or african potato, garlic and lemon (the last bit of unscientific theory i heard somewhere else, though)
