  1. not in my case - i've got lots of body fat (welll i've got a high bmi) and got properly sick 3 times this year - so no protection there. all three times was after biggish events where i trained a bit and lots of vits before - and afterwards kind of forgot to take the vits, so i think my lungs were just super-sensitive to the allergens after being (ab)used a little bit
  2. oooh yaaay there's a kayak option as well, so i don't have to go drown
  3. would you pay tax on the sponsorship? <edit> ignore - question already asked and answered
  4. hehehe clint i couldn't help but imagine the powerbalance band guy telling the truth, and how it would up his sales ...
  5. oooooh that's beautiful!!!!!!! i once had a mate who was sponsored by some or other flour-company .... so his cycling shorts said something about "self-raising"
  6. aaaaaawwwwwww meis you can't have many girl cycling friends, do you? OR wait - i know! you're gorgeous and they all just want you to feel like their hero for rescuing them
  7. met a guy in delta park that wanted to know whether i had a tube that he could use - i ride tubeless and carry only one tube; felt very bad afterwards that i said know (but couldn't see myself in the dark 10 kms from home with a flat wheel and no spare and no-one to call to come fetch me) ... i still carry only one, so next time i'm most likely gonna have to refuse to help hom again
  8. i love my trance!
  9. i kept the hardtail and very glad i did! i love the ride, it keeps me awake. i love the geometry and the feedback. the frame is very old, so i'm seriously considering getting a new hardtail-frame. bonus is that i always have spare parts / wheels / spare bike when one bike needs attention
  10. yup - same nightrides that dirty refers to - feels like a bee-sting - nowadays the guys warn us when we get close
  11. did you unscrew the valve thingy and pushed the other thingy directly after the 100km ride, or a few hours later?
  12. maybe the other prerequisite is some brain damage when you were little? it doesnt get much crazier than this
  13. ooohh tumbles we gonna have to go check it out!!!! tintin? now we just need a date
  14. linden cycles - ive always had service far beyond what was reasonable
  15. awwww tintin i've already got something planned for saturday but next time - i haven't been to van gaalens in a while - there's just so many nice places to play!
  16. it's pretty! which is a good excuse to go ride it
  17. have heard a lot about you, from friends who were your friends - hope the singletrack's good where you are now - RIP
  18. my hardtails' got shimano, the trance got sram. i'm using the trance's wheel at the o on the hardtail, cos of a bent rotor ... and haven't had any problems with the sram casette on the simano chain and derrailleur.
  19. ah thx dibs - i've asked in another thread somewhere but lost the thread so couldn't see the response
  20. not paved like in stones but rida-ability improved for the strugglers. is also a change for the good - portage was a requirement 9/10 times - now rideable. I very much hope that the changes was not made to 'improve' the trails for the 'strugglers' but rather to prevent erosion how will i ever improve my riding skills if i'm never challenged?
  21. heard stories today that they're paving the singletrack at groenkloof? apparently to stop erosion? anyone cycled there last weekend? please post pics?
  22. i've changed from 80mm to 100 without a problem, was tempted to go for 120 but was advised against it.
  23. dobby not sure how that bike will perform on some of the more technical bitsies of joberg2c???
  24. my hardtail lost more than a kilo when i got a new shock - it had a very old worn rockshock judy; it's got a sid now and the bikeshop refer to it as 'the abused bike with the pretty shock' wheels also can make a big difference
