  1. slowbee this rides seems a bit more sane than the beitbridge-to-capetown thingie. but then, if something's worth doing, it's worth overdoing, right? steve, you gonna ride the lesotho-thingie? it wasn't YOU who took the recce-pictures, was it?
  2. a shower cap worked quite well in ireland's weather. and it's for free if you stay over at a hotel. it helps if you['re in a foreign country with no chance of anyone recognising you, though ...
  3. a buff keeps the cold out - i can wrap it around my ears and mouth too if i need to. and when it warms up, it doesn't take much space in the bag.
  4. isnack makes a nice variation from junglebars. and there are some new junglebars flavours that only cone in miniature sizes. havan't treid the banana, but the strawberry was quite good.
  5. that's exactly why i switched to the lower gears way back when i still rode with roadies. now i ride with MTB peoples and they dont mind waiting for me - and i'm still in the smaller gears
  6. hos did it go? was there this morning and it was georgeous! i didn't see any giraffe - but other than that, it was a perfect morning.
  7. played in groenkloof. some stunning new trails there the climbie in the corner was a little more technical then i remembered ... possibly because a river came down there recently? an exciting river crossing towards the end of the loop. decided to skip another loop and rather go drink coffee at moyos. we left them with puddles on the floor
  8. come do it wrong again tomorrow at groenies?
  9. the most awesomest ride with some peoples from midrand. a relaxed ride with lots of singletrack, a gnarly climbie & downhillie, some gravel, coffee, and exceleent company.
  10. did you?????
  11. one way is to cycle less (and run more)?
  12. GTR there's just something about riding in the rain, hey? i wouldn't willingly go out if it's raining ... but sometimes i'm at work with only the bike to et home - or get caught in the rain while out. maybe it's cos you have the track all to yourself. or car-drivers can't believe what they see, so they cutrteous or just the clean washed air that you breathe
  13. hat you doing next weekend?w
  14. it wasn't the firt time. i went often last year till my riding buddy moved to captown. take your own lights.
  15. i agree - finally they got it right
  16. glenn, the dude who rode with the singlespeed to capetown on last year's freedom challenge. not because of his determination or his technical abilities, nor for the amazing singletrack he built in waterval-boven - but for his humility and genuine-ness and sharing his knowledge and just generally the brilliant person that he is .... and cos he's got a cute smile hardy, the dark&dirty dude, for thinking up D&D, and cos of his kindness and enthusiasm and energy - and cos they always wait for the back-markers dangle, cos he's slightly crazy
  17. terence - last year i did the first one, enjoyed it a LOT, then struggled to get info (via google) for the second one, and found it after entries closed. if you could advertise the dates on the hub, cyclelab, entrytime - where more people would be aware of these types of events. Are dates for 2011 finalised yet? where could i get a calendar? thx
  18. this is from my commute this afternoon. there was no-one out there - just me and the bike and some mud and a huge grin

  20. i cant help but wonder why - what would make a 16-year-old do something like that?
  21. very very difficult to never cycle alone if you're female.
  22. i was there - not to the top, just to basecamp - that's the hill there in the background
  23. probably depends what you riding.
