  1. hahaha you guys are very sweet .... am taking 2 girls whos not as strong as you are, but who like to get out and play - if you'll help me babysit them, then you're welcome - shall we meet early-ish at the botanical gardens? cat-i2009-12-08 14:31:33
  2. dirty i haven't seen you in ages - are you gonna be there????? someone need to talk me up the hill.
  3. wide handlebars have lots of space for gadgets the trance came with wiiide handlebars. wanted to have them cut but a friend suggested i ride with them for a while and cut after 2 months. I love them now - i can force the bike in the direction i want to go far easier than i can the hardtail. the geometry might have something to do with it, though. at 24 hrs, the first forest-lap was a bit scary (almost touched tree trunks a few times) but got used to that quite quickly and on later laps i wondered why it bothered me.
  4. is he ok - any news?
  5. ... and post a pic of the one you decided to get!!!
  6. calling newbies and not-so-newbies from gauteng possibly a ride at northern farms, or sommer in the spruit - lets say we meet at botannical gardens, then down to delta park, back up, and possibly to albert's farm - and vida or doppio zero afterwards. anyone?
  7. i'll be there and possibly bring the joberg2c partner with.
  8. should get some pics later of just how clogged up some bikes got. not moaning' date=' but did they actually scout that section of the course before restarting the race?[/quote'] here's one - i'm allowed to post the same pic twice, right?
  9. this is so, so sad - when i read about this this orning, i thought if we could just rewind back, and re-play this with another outcome ... but we can't condolences to the family and friends - you are in my thoughts.
  10. its almost time!
  11. AND you can rent mountain bikes there!!
  12. t-girl, i have a trance and i absolutely love it. the geometry makes you sit more 'behind' the bike than the anthem - this makes drops and downhills much easier without you having to drop your bum behind the saddle (although i still do, because i rode a hardtail for years) people will say it's not made for longer stuff, but i've done ride2rhodes on it, which is kind of longish where are you? if you're gauteng-area, we can maybe meet at groenkloof one day in december, and you can take the trance for a spin? also try to ride an anthem, and all other bikes that people recommend - and then see which one you likes best.
  13. t-girl you can't go wrong with an anthem - good value for money and excellent reviews. and very pretty too! try to ride one, if you haven't done so. that's the one with the upright shock, and not the older version where the shock was horisontal?
  14. ride a few, the bike will choose you.
  15. MTN bike park, corner of uhmmmmmm i think main and ...... something - its where main goes over the highway, just before william nicol? and you're in the park and there's traffic jams outside and grumpy people in there cars and you're riding singletracks.
  16. bikepark's open till 8 on tuesdays. it only gets dark at about 7, but i think they close the gates around 6-ish, so got to be in by then (except possibly if you phone them to come open for you) so who's going to go test their lights there tomorrow night?
  17. ... so when's the next ride?
  18. good luck dude, dont give up, thinking of you
  19. now THAT is just a HORRIBLE post. i'll simplya have to take a carmera with on my joburg commute this week - but the sea-pictures will be missing, unfortunately ...
  20. <quote>For instance, whilst en route home, a female cyclist with particularly large thighs, cycled merrily in front of cars tearing down 7th road in Parkhurst. She, bulging with the fascist hormone, brought on by her abundance of cycling gadgets, put her hand in the air and caused four vehicles to break sharply and stop mid drive so that she could pass.<unquote> i am not fat. 7th road is not on my way to work i dont have facist hormones (googled that one) i dont cycle in front of cars, i'm way too scared AND I AM NOT FAT cat-i2009-11-27 10:36:34
  21. i have done it. discovered one evening before magalies monster that i had a broken spoke, so put the rigid's wheel on the hardtail. rigid had one less gear than hardtail. phoned a friend to explain to me over the telephone how to set the limiter screws and some other adjustments, and finished the magalies with that wheel - if it happened, it must be possible.
