  1. Still some distance to do to hit 6000km Previous best mileage was last year at 4700, given the few weeks off with Covid etc. I’m happy with what I’ve achieved. Also set 2 PB in the 2 big races I do every year.
  2. figured as much, especially after I could not find such an app on my app store.
  3. Strand ?
  4. I also use Statshunter for stats. I dont really like the interface for GC
  5. because its nice to have a little something you can share for bragging rights. I've worked hard to achieve my measly stats man, let me brag about them.
  6. With various things this year keeping me off the bike I'm now left with 8 rides for the year to hit my goal of 6000km. From today I increased my morning rides by around 10% because I missed out on yesterdays ride and looking at the weather predictions I need to build in a little wiggle room for the weather. I have already achieved my best year on the bike (since i started recording digitally) but I'm still 360km short of the goal I set.
  7. everything is automated these days, they can set it up (if it needs setting up) and schedule it to run 1 Jan, early hours of the morning.
  8. Why do they send this out so early, received mine via email yesterday, but there are still 2 weeks worth of riding left of the year.
  9. I know, but damn, whats up with this weather. Winter gear in the middle of december, computer says NO!
  10. I'm glad I left the road bike at home. The roads in that area are not road cycling friendly. Plus getting in and out of the resort on the road bike would have been a little challenging, the entire place is paved in cobble stone style brick paving. The so called MTB trails inside are all on the same cobble paved pathways, the route I rode on most days would go around the perimeter of the resort, it was a short 4km loop but had around 60m of elevation, so would do it 3 times before brekkies. Some parts were steep and slippery and you'd get some wheel spin.
  11. what is the sun that you speak of ? It would appear that Eskom is in control of this sun thing in Gauteng.
  12. Maybe tomorrows one
  13. I pedaled a boat on harties yesterday, does that count?
  14. I ride the same route daily, always stop my garming on 27.45km, the point in the road where I hit the stop button is seldom the same. Elevation often is a little different too. As others have mentioned, does not matter what you used to traverse the route, it the device's relation to the GPS satellites that counts.
  15. something stupid I heard the other day, but certainly has some merit. Hold a bottle of water in your hand. How much does it weight ? Now hold that same bottle of water in your hand for 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours continuous, how much does it weigh now ? Technically the same amount, but the progressive fatigue on the muscles makes it feel like that much more. Could be a similar effect happening with the neck. Thats about the only input I can give, I've never done in endurance event to have experience with this.
  16. There is no shame in what you have achieved, you did over 1000km in conditions most of us are to afraid to even start. You achievement is worthy of a race report.
  17. devastating news. @*Reinet* Marais so sorry for your loss.
  18. hope you bought something decent
  19. Yesterday I get home and we setup for a braai, lovely warm weather, 10 minutes later the skies are dark the wind is blowing trees over. this morning I looked outside, not bad let’s ride, get back shower change and start eating breakies, look outside and it’s raining. WTF is up with this weather this year? I blame Covid.
  20. sounds like jo'burg at the moment
  21. the problem is whats falls on those days. 25th - If I want to still be married by the time 2022 rolls around I will not be riding 26th - sweet, open to ride 27th - working, so can do a short ride in the morning - 27km 28th - working, short ride in the morning - 27km 29th - working, short ride in the morning - 27km 30th - working, short ride in the morning - 27km 31st - working, short ride in the morning - 27km 1st - Sweet open to ride. But a medium one as family commitments 5 x 27km = 135km that leaves 365km over 2 rides. whilst not totally impossible to do, it will leave me rather broken for any further family activities.
  22. well if doing 5 rides is part of the spirit/origin of it then its a go for me.
  23. but then I have to worry about WHEN it updates and on WHICH network its trying to do the updates
  24. I'm working, so simply dont have the time for it, would love to give it a shot.
  25. Got it working again. Took it apart last night. The little green LED stayed on the entire time. Then whilst I was trying to figure out how to dismantle the battery and circuit board I decided to give the circuit board a wipe with a baby wipe. Green LED goes out. I test it, it works. So I grabbed an alcohol wipe that I happen to have lying around, gave the circuit board a good wipe then sprayed a light layer of Q20 on it. Gave it a test this morning and its 100%.
