  1. I've also calmed down alot. But I tend to have a build up and eventually one day someone does something and the fuse blows. I then think about it afterwards, think about the things that could have gone wrong and how I didnt achieve anything by blowing up and I go back to being super chilled and calm. Just thinking now about the times I've blown up, it seems that in every case I did not see the other party before they did something stupid. It appears to me now that if I have spotted the person before hand and anticipated their stupidity I'm far more tolerant and chilled about it.
  2. I'm not totally innocent though. There have been times I've gone full rage. But strangely its been in the car at other motorists. I'm much more chilled on the bike. Luckily on the bike, by the time my brain has time to short circuit into rage mode the motorist is so far down the road there is noway of catching them, it only take a minute or so for me then calm down and carry on enjoying my ride.
  3. the swearing at them in your head is an important part too. there is no use confronting them, you will not change their minds, it will raise your blood pressure and possibly even put you in further danger.
  4. with the weather here the last 2 morning I've done some stretching and foam rolling the last 2 mornings. I'm hoping to integrate more of this into my routine as I dont stretch nearly enough.
  5. A person reads threads like these and it makes it look like you are suicidal if you ride road. Maybe I've been lucky picking my routes and times to ride, but I cant recall any one incident last year from my rides. I'm not saying I'm totally safe, I'm fully aware of the risks involved, and I would most certainly love for the Ians of the world to change their tune, but I will continue to mitigate the risks as much as possible and carry on road riding.
  6. I surprised those seats are not brown
  7. Saw this on Facebook Aircraft hit a large bird at Sishen, Kathu Northern Cape on landing, actually the prop. Carbon composite prop with a high strength resin internal structure. Like all composite structures...they don't like sudden hits. No injuries
  8. I'd say the weakest point is the fleshy bit ontop of the bike
  9. both those Titans are 24"frames, unless you're the height of a 10 year old it will be to small for you Did not look at the others. Only reason I looked at the Titans is that I'm bike shopping for my 11 year old
  10. I'm not going to comment on the bikes, but if you are going to be teaching your wife to ride make sure the bike is the right size for her. She will be scared enough just trying to balance on 2 wheels without the added issues of a bike thats to large or to small. It doesnt have to be the perfect fit, but it does need atleast be close.
  11. I rather enjoy the hands free voice activation under certain circumstances. Maybe its still a novelty for me.
  12. well done. That takes some motivation to record a workout every single day.
  13. I had a lol just now. In december I bought a refurbished google home mini. I've been using it to play music and turn on or off certain devices. So about 10 minutes ago I get some notifications on my phone from every Sonoff device in the house switching on. I go into the logs and it says I triggered them. Nope not me, WTF? So I phone home to find out whats up. Turns out my wife and kids had the speaker playing music, my wife turns around and say Hey Google turn off to which it goes ahead and turns off all the sonoff devices and responds "turning off 11 switches", wife goes thats not right, then says google turn of to which it turns everything on.
  14. I know these guys have become aggressive nuisances, but I still think they're cool
  15. yeah my weather app also said no rain and very little wind, fortunately I was in the shower already when it started raining.
  16. Look, I see some of his social media posts and he comes across as a grumpy old man in them, but he is always smiling and seemingly enjoying himself in his Strava pics. I would be single if I spent that much time on the bike though. I often show my wife some of his rides and stats, he certainly is not letting the revolutions around the sun keep him back.
  17. given his age those stat ARE wow
  18. Ok I know I mostly post pics from the same spot, but it usually offers the best view of the sky during my normal route. left home to clear blue skies, by the halfway mark I was chasing the storm home. Sitting at work now and skies have cleared again.
  19. It’s been a long year. Haven’t had a holiday since last year, I think it’s time for a break. 😂
  20. yes all good points. I'll need to ramp up, but also in order to do those distances and remain fresh(er) I'll need to join some group rides. There is a LBS group close to me that went out and did the mileage every day, so that is an option.
  21. actually my mind is working on plans right now. I'd better write them down before I forget. I'm thinking some late afternoons into early evening rides would be nice, with the last bit of the ride in the dark. (although if the weather does what it did this year that wont be so great)
  22. 25th is always out , 26th we may or may not work (retail is tricky), but its traditionally a very quiet week at the office, so if I arrange to come in late or leave early that week I can fit in a 2 - 2.5 hour ride a day
  23. I've got FOMO. But feeling the fatigue from just shy of 400km over the last 2 weeks has me wondering if I could do this. But I'm going to work towards it for this year. Looking at when that week falls this year, work will still be an issue, but if I plan correctly I'm sure I can make arrangements to work it into things.
  24. anyone still following Wimpie on Stava ? He did an insane ride yesterday and some crazy stats for 2021
  25. I dont know what this new variant is doing to people, but certainly with the previous variant it did a number on peoples hearts and lungs, even folks like myself that had it mild got a big smack and took a while for the heart and lungs to recover, i know of people 6 months later that are still suffering from long covid. So my un educated opinion would be to listen to what the doc told you and stick to walking for a bit longer
