  1. That’s a solid ride
  2. Looked like about 6 guys.
  3. Cruised some of the same roads Frosty was on. @frosty, I saw some folks from your club pulling into Newmarket as I went by. Dam this wind though, it fought me all the way home.
  4. its the first day of sunshine in gauteng for a long time
  5. everytime I've flown Emirates this seems to be the default setting. So cold the entire flight that people are sitting shivering under blankets.
  6. thanks for that link, very interesting article
  7. The things I hated about boxing the bike and sticking it on a plane * dismantling and reassembling. It never feels exactly right afterwards * greater possibility of damage (baggage handlers are not exactly gentle) * having to hire a vehicle on the other side that can take you, your passengers, luggage and bike(s) in a box. I once landed up with an ATOZ, 3 of us in the car and 2 bikes. * CO2 bombs are an issue, you cant put them in the bike box, you cant take them as hand luggage It costs slightly more to use a transport company but the pros far outway the cons.
  8. That is awesome, I'm trying to gently nudge my family in a similar direction. Even if its not doing races, but atleast doing some nice rides together.
  9. oh yes and let me add that since I did not get to it this year I still want to do a 100 miler (160km)
  10. We have our year in sport thread going, but how about goals for 2022. I was originally going to call it Cycling goals, but since many on here do other sports I decided to broaden the scope. For me I'd like to do more climbing. I'll probably end on around 36 000m of climbing for the year this year, I think setting a goal for 45 000m seems good. I'll leave the mileage to take care of itself, but if I do 5000km or above next year I'll be happy. Race wise I'd like to get under 3h30 for CTCT and 3h00 for 947
  11. you are winning at the marriage game
  12. if you cant hear your wife complaining about your n+1 obsession then life is happy
  13. The reason I added it as a component on ProBikeGarage when I previously changed the battery was that I felt, in my head, that the first battery did not last all that long. However, if I go back through my stats and add up the time from all my activities before I changed the battery it would appear the first battery gave me around 250hours which is also pretty fair.
  14. Well it could be the nut riding the bike that is the problem. But as mentioned earlier by someone else, check the saddle/seatpost . Heck, I started getting really crazy a few months back tracking down a ticking noise that would only occur under hard efforts, i was convinced it was the BB. Turned out to be the house keys in my pocket.
  15. I'm still using the strap I got with my Edge 130 in 2018. Still works 100% although recently the elastic has started coming apart near the sensors, so its probably time for a replacement.
  16. I’ve got it as a component on ProBikeGarage
  17. it might have a toushie, it might not
  18. What are you getting out of your Garmin HR straps in terms of battery life. I've recorded 292 hours of activity on my current battery, given that it started giving me strange readings on yesterdays ride already lets then call it 290 hours. Garmin states around 300 hours. If you take the fact that the hours I've recorded are activities and that there is more than likely a period before and after each recording where the strap is active I'd say my current battery has done well. Picked up a new battery earlier which I will install tonight in anticipation for tomorrow mornings ride.
  19. +1 for Joggie Have used his service a number of times and have always been happy. He has purpose built bike trailers and does not need to change anything on your bike to make it fit. Always super helpful and friendly.
  20. What is this strange glowing thing in the sky?
  21. I remember checking it out last year or the year before when you mentioned it. never really chased it. I’m sitting on 56, needing 6 days of 57km to move up a number.
  22. To give an idea of my normal mileages on the bike check this graph out. Yellow line tracking the gray (target) line is current year, blue = 2020 and green = 2019, the rest is other years.
  23. those are sexy bars
  24. I blame my new multifocals for not reading properly.
  25. less than 300km to go, Rapha500 will put me over 6000, just dont have the time to put it that mileage (500) right now.
