  1. did you do the software update ?
  2. thanks, will try the tube trick. I should have one lying around. Also the spoke thing, I did feel the spokes felt on the slack side after inflation.
  3. depending on wether I get it to hold air or not before I have to ship the bike down I might need to user your floor pump saturday evening or sunday morning. But that should be worst case scenario.
  4. It was in one of their communications, i think yesterday, they do allow 3rd party tests, as long as all the info they need appears on the test. I think R250 is the going rate for these tests though. There is a rapid testing spot a few hundred metres from my office, so will pop in there. (although they are the same ones that gave me a false positive in June)
  5. they cant go to deep into the footballers nasal passage or the swab will get coated in residual coke and not give any results.
  6. I'm assuming a brain tickle is what they will use. For convenience sake I'm going to get mine done up here on the thursday afternoon or friday. One less thing for me to worry about when I get to cape town.
  7. Cois, I cant give much, but take the tiny little donation from me and use it for a coffee or a milkshake or something to spoil yourself. Its tempting in times like these to neglect yourself in favour of paying bills, dont feel guilty about using my contribution on yourself.
  8. rim tape and complete new valves bought. now to install tonight. biggest headache being that I need to head to the local petrol station to use their compressor.
  9. WHAT, no goodie bags? I want my money back.
  10. my thoughts are also on rim tape or not 100% seated properly. I think to cover all bases I'll pop out later and get some new rim tape
  11. so the rear is not holding air. It was losing a bit of air overnight, but still have some pressure in the morning. Thought it may be the valve core, so I changed that. Same thing. So last night I removed the valve core, cleaned out the valve stem, re-inserted with valve core with a touch of copper slip on it. I also checked the beading all around the tyre for leaks using soapy water. Pumped it to 120psi and left it over night. This morning it is completely flat. Have to get this sorted out tonight or tomorrow as the bike ships off to cape town sunday morning. Any ideas ?
  12. 30 day waiting period post covid plus other circumstances means according to their 28 day J&J rule I'm one day off from being fully vaxxed.
  13. if you dont like dont ride then. Simple. For the event to go ahead certain protocols had to be agreed to, this was one of them. I unfortunately due to having Covid and then other circumstances only got my J&J on 13 sept, that makes 10 Oct 28 days, this means I still have to get tested. If this is what it takes for me to ride then this is what I'll do. I'm not happy sinking another R250 into this race when I'm already on a tight budget, but it is what it is.
  14. if he is pushing 51/18 up a 10% gradient at 45km/h I dont think he has any problems with power
  15. having had a few lightning strikes pretty close to me in the past its bloody frightening, and yes, deaf and blind (and a bit smelly) afterwards. We have one of those red and white communications towers behind the house, as its the tallest thing around it gets hit often. Seeing the flash and hearing the bang at exactly the same time makes you jump.
  16. I think most people are using this colour to show sarcasm
  17. do you leave the coke in the bags or do you pour it in ? ????
  18. the powers that be dont want us to be sarcastic anymore, this is now a serious cycling only classifieds site.
  19. I seem to be alergic to it. Makes dizzy and I puke, then wake up with a crazy headache the next morning.
  20. I happened by chance to be standing outside and witnessed the flyby yesterday. Came in low towards ORT at a heck of a speed. it then circled around and came in nose up and gear down.
  21. gap cover used to be cheap, not so much anymore. But it IS essential. Although this year has hit me big time with medical bills for the kids, and just about everything is done out of hospital so gap cover doesnt cover and k@k medical aid, when they do cover, dont cover much.
  22. you've got 7 hours. Dont fret it, enjoy the ride. Dont worry about everyone blasting off at the start, go at your own pace, you'll catch most of them walking up the first hill.
  23. we dont need cycle paths on the east rand, we are hard out here, we sommer cycle on the highway bru
