  1. thats why I was very careful in my post and said "you have to be stronger than me", I've not managed it
  2. correct, at the back all they are trying to do is finish the route, they are hanging on for dear life just to keep moving forward.
  3. yeah you guys starting further up dont really know the hardships in the alphabet soup at the back.
  4. the further back you go though the more its just loan riders trundling along not working together. You need to be stronger than me to do a sub 4 solo, I've not managed when on my own, in a bunch then its doable.
  5. speaking of you ex employer. There is an old toppie that works there who cycles in everyday. Has a bald top of head but long grey hair on the bottom half of his head. I saw him the other day for the first time in a while, recognised him but at first could not place him, then I saw him again the next day and it clicked that he worked at SAAT and had helped us get cars into the SAA atrium when I was at Hyundai. We had to take the cars in through technical side and then they used a massive forklift to lift them onto the platform into the atrium.
  6. possibly grey import thats why they cant find it on their system.
  7. I see them standing on the showroom floor here and always thought theyd make great commuters, especially in DCT form
  8. I dont know if I set it up on mine or if it came pre set, but mine auto shuts off after a period of inactivity
  9. Don’t worry, on the East Rand we used to have Atlas road, now the road name is an entire paragraph of words.
  10. just their normal deals actually. Still good though.
  11. Easing off the intensity Edited to add. Experienced a bit of jet wash this morning for the first time. As I was approaching the runway at ORT and Singapore Air plane came in for landing in front of me. I passed by below its approach shortly after, all of a sudden I had a swirling head wind with a mix of rather warm and cool air. I've ridden this road hundreds of times, this is the first time my timing has been such that I felt this.
  12. Is it possible that rolling resistance increases as tyres wear ? Did my first ride on the new tyres this morning and I swear they felt like they rolled a hell of a lot easier. Maybe its just placebo.
  13. again its not a one size fits all, I had to little drop. but also my hoods needed to be rotated to change my wrist angle
  14. what you should have been asking then is "where can I go for a bike fit" I use Richard Baxter, The Bike Fit Gut (thats his company name), he operates out of a few bike shops, so check out his site and pick a location close to you.
  15. I'm very far from being any sort of expert in the matter. But I'll give my opinion based on what I've read and experienced. I've always suffered badly with neck and shoulder pain, compounded my being slumped over in front of a computer for to many hours a day in my earlier life and incorrect bike fit. So much so that after some races I'd be man down for the rest of the day with a migraine type headache. When i got my current bike in 2019 I did some basic fit, but then decided to go and get a proper bike fit done. Even though the fitter advised on narrower bars and shorter stem, the changes he made already made my neck and shoulders feel better. And now after his latest changes a month or so back I'm almost pain free after 3 hours on the bike. So yes your flexibility goes down a bit with age, but your bike setup should change to compensate for it.
  16. I converted a drawer next to my bed, mounted a USB hub and added weights to the cable so they self retract when not plugged into a device.
  17. I dont know why you're calling the CTCT roads bumpier than the cradle, I dont find that at all.
  18. there is no info of said rider........ so it could still be a bike fit problem. and probably is. 80 year old lady or 25 year old with BMI of 35, the bike fit should take that into account
  19. no, its a new better way of doing things thing. I started cycling (as in doing races) in the 90s, back then we went on the eyeball method. One hand distance between crotch and cross bar when standing over the bike tip of fingers to elbow being the distance from bars to seat tip leg straight at 6 O''clock position on cranks But thank goodness for sports science and better tech.
  20. have to agree I used to be in the same school of thought as eala, then I had a bike fit and most of the pain went away. I made adjustments after that to all my contact points (new saddle, new pedals and cleats, new shoes, new bar, new stem) and made micro adjustments as I went along as I thought I knew what I was doing. My biggest problem was still neck and shoulder pain. Decided about month or so back to go for a follow up bike fit. Guess what, every single one of the contact points were adjusted in the opposite direction to what I thought, the result. Hours on the bike now with hardly any discomfort.
  21. Ouch !!!
  22. I have been using Enduro seal, have my app set to remind me to top up every 6 months. There was still a fair amount of milky liquid in the tyres when I removed them, wether the sealant will seal or not I dont know, have not had to test it yet.
  23. 7586km later I have replaced them with another set. Had it not been for CTCT in 2 weeks I’d probably ride these further. the difference between used and new
  24. why do you need a route map ? just keep the mountain on your right and follow the other few thousand cyclists around you, you cant get lost
