  1. no thanks. If I''m having a mechanic work on my bike its because I either dont have the time, in which case hanging around waiting for him to do his/her thing at my place is counter to why I need him/her or I dont have the expertise / tools, in which case he/she would need to have a fairly decent van setup for me to trust my bike to.
  2. when I still serviced my cars at dealerships I'd take the sticker off infront of them.
  3. I think it was the stops for traffic lights and the cool down afterwards that dropped it to zone 3
  4. I thought about going for some PRs on the way back but decided to stick to the game plan and keep it a zone2 ride, so just sat back and enjoyed the fruits of my labour of battling the headwind going out. Saturdays ride was a short balls to the wall all out effort going out and back (that somehow averaged out to a zone 3 ride when I was hoping for a zone 4)
  5. I skipped saturday morning and went saturday afternoon. Went out yesterday morning, it was atleast warmer than saturday but there were stretches where the wind was hitting me from the side and I noticed I had the bike cranked over at an angle into the wind in order to stay upright. The hills I struggled down on the way out I flew up on the way back.
  6. even in joeys we were cycling at an angle yesterday
  7. yesterday was the first weekend in 4 weeks that I did not ride from the east to your neck of the woods, my passport is well stamped.
  8. I feel like an noob back in 3A with all you folks seeded so high up
  9. got my jab monday, tuesday I had very mild flu like symptoms (aching joints, no energy), wednesday I decided not to ride. Rode this morning, took it easy but HR was all normal.
  10. The nurse that gave me my J&J said what might happen is that we will have to alternate between Pfizer and J&J for booster shots going forward. I havent looked into it any further to see how much truth there is in the matter
  11. if we want events to go ahead then this will be the hoops we need to jump through under the current conditions
  12. I found the sun @TNT It was hiding under Boksburg.
  13. The sluggishness is felt before getting on the bike, I would say that it is if I eat within an hour before. For races I'll normally eat before leaving home and just top up on the way there, so usually more than 1 hour before, for those I dont feel sluggish, but that also because I get nervous on the morning of an event and cant eat much (hence the topping up on my way to the event)
  14. agreed. I've also been doing it all my cycling life, and actually I feel sluggish if I eat first. But have noticed on longer rides that i do finish stronger if I fuel on the ride, so have adapted my strategy to allow for this.
  15. same here, except for me its anything over 80km where I'll try and fuel up. But I read something an hour or so back saying to many fasted rides a week is also not good.
  16. how fasted you go ?
  17. I got J&J'd yesterday, HRV took a dip this morning. Nothing crazy like when I had the 'Rona, but just enough for the app to tell me to take it easy today.
  18. No, chain is just not quiet passing over the teeth on the gears. had it with the original KMC chain, when I changed to the last SRAM it went away. but that last SRAM was sold to me because it was noisy on the previous owners bike, previous owner gave it a good clean before selling to me though.
  19. ok, so the verdict is then to clean off excess for now. thanks, thats quick enough to do this evening. Still concerned about it being slightly noisier than the chain I took off, but that could be drivetrain wear. Although the sound is about the same as when I had the original KMC chain on
  20. Thanks I did 80km with it yesterday, its a bit on the noisy side, so will probably give it a clean this weekend and re-lube. So maybe another 80km on it before I get the time to do it
  21. Uhm OK ?
  22. Tried to search, but I fail at the search of the hub. I recall some discussions around this, but cant recall the conclusion. When putting on a new chain, do you clean the factory lube off first or install with the factory lube and add some of your favourite onto that ? I'm not talking about a high end chain here either, this is a SRAM PC1110
  23. Last 3 weeks I’ve cycle to my folks place to check up on it whilst they are away. I took an extra little detour this morning to add some mileage to the ride. Turned a 55km round trip into a decent ride
  24. Dark line is fitness. Last ride pre 'Rona was 29 June, you can see the rapid drop off due to no exercise, then tiny blips as I started up again. Strava fitness number touched 60 yesterday, it was touching 70 but consistently in the 60s prior to that.
