    Bibs

Vye Mirage vs Ciovita Corsa the Ciovita wins for comfort. But the Vye bib is really not far behind and is holding up really well to continued daily use. (The Ciovita only get used on rides that will be longer than 3 hours). Given that Ciovita often have there Corsa bibs on special at the same price as the Vye I'd go with Ciovita, but at normal retail pricing Vye wins. As stated above, the Vye Mirage is a much tighter fit than the Ciovita so go one size up, it does stretch slightly but not enough to make it baggy.
  3. what about a pipe cutter to cut it ? (although I dont think the pipe cutter I have will open wide enough) maybe I should just support my LBS and get them to do it
  4. why not just wear your cycling socks ? or am I missing something ?
  5. Had my follow up fit done with Richard yesterday. Since my initial setup with him I've changed ALL my contact points. You think you have the setup pretty much dialed in and only need minor tweaks, hell no. Everything was adjusted. Now I need to cut my chimney, it was ok with only 2 short spacers on top, I could let it slide, but now it just looks ugly. Went for my normal 1 hour ride this morning, it took a few km to get settled in but once I was it was so so comfortable. Looking forward to doing a multi hour ride to assess. Any suggestions for cutting the chimney ? try to DIY or take it to a bike shop ? If I'm correct, although the forks are carbon the steerer is not.
  6. they werent satin they were cotton (or whatever the material is that mine are made of) and they would not have fitted just glad it did not coincide with the day I split my pants
  7. And those that did grab a pair of under jocks in the dark winter morning only to find out they were the wife's so landed up going commando anyway ????
  8. Thats brilliant. but my wife would just leave them open all the time and with empty hangers on them
  9. same issue with me, 2km to get to work, not even worth the effort to get kitted up, so instead I do a 1 hour ride before work, shower change and throw down a quick bowl of cereal and then just take a drive to work.

    Who remembers?

the problem came in when I'd get cassette recordings of club mix CDs, one track mixes into the next with no gap between

    Who remembers?

I had a fancy cassete player in my first 2 cars (same player that I just transfered over), if the gap between the different tracks was long enough you could skip forward a track. It would FFWD until it found the gap and then play from there.
  12. For 5km I would not even bother changing out of work wear. Laptop can go in a backpack. Just have a comb or whatever stashed at the office to sort out the helmet hair.
  13. To borrow some words from Dale, “Weapon of stress relief”
  14. doing the social media thing and trying to keep it fresh daily is LOTS of work. i tried to do it for one of the previous dealerships I worked at, I think I managed a month at most.
  15. just wait until you arrive at the start line for a road race and your and all the bikes around you look like they've just cycled across the sahara.
  16. damn is that what happened. I saw one of the regulars from the group ride say RIP but there was no further info
  17. the biggest problem there is resistance to change. To many people that are a) set in their ways b) scared of new tech ESPECIALLY when it comes to doctors and receptionists.
  18. yoh that brings back good and bad memories. Delivering news papers on a cold winters morning that thing would go completely black due to the wind chill
  19. booked for monday
  20. This thread got me off my butt to book my long overdue follow up with Richard Baxter
  21. everytime I use that road when I'm down there I'm stuck behind a truck/car/van doing 15km/h anyway, so not much different
  22. I've become annoyed many times at different retailers for not responding to queries sent in from their own websites, but recently experienced an issue from the other side of the fence. We also have an online query log page, this is managed by an external company, and I imagine most retailers also have theirs outsourced. We were concerned though that we were no longer getting as many queries as we used to and then did some testing and found out the system was not working 100%. So whilst I'm not resolving the retailers completely as I still think along with the query form they should supply an email address and/or phone number (both of which should be manned internally), it is possible that they have been experiencing similar issues with their systems.
  23. Glorious sunrise ride again this morning. Left a little late because the dog decided to sneak out and I had to go chase him back home. Then heading east the sunrise through the clouds, I reach back to my pocket to grab my phone and its not there. Panic sets in for a minute or 2 thinking it somehow bounced out, then I remembered I exited the house so quickly to catch the dog that I did not put my phone in my pocket.
  24. and then air travel. Social distancing all through the airport but once inside the plane you are packed in like sardines
  25. this I understand can be a problem, and with Johnny customer being able to buy a shelf company and then wanting to buy direct from the supplier instead of through retail stores it can be very difficult to manage. But with some creative thinking a solution can be had that will allow start-up bike shops to get going
